I think you'll agree that this X-Ray flux graph looks a whole lot prettier when it's not a flat line. Whattya say?

Thank you! But wouldn't Meteors have tails? Maybe they're just moving too slow? I've just never seen this before, and I've looked at Soho during other Meteor showers.

The most I've seen are a few meteors shooting past, MAYBE lasting 5 or 6 frames. These things are moving like the planets move. But they're obviously not planets.

Certainly looks pretty, however my EKG seems echo the flux charts ...

All Flares registered on the GOES X-Ray are Omni-directional - The Light from Flares travels all ways.

It is possible that a well placed Flare could cause some problems but this M should'nt be a worry,besides it passed as soon as you knew it happened as it moves at the Speed of Light

lol thanks for the response. Definitely not worried over an M-flare lol just interested in some solar activity which there hasn't been much of.

I think what you are trying to ask is whether there A) is an associated CME (coronal mass ejection) with this flare and B) whether that potential associated CME is earth directed.

At this point I don't think we've determined whether this flare had an associated CME, however judging by the location of the flare it would have to be a pretty massively wide CME to hit Earth IMO. Updates to follow :)

Thats like three in about 8 hours, this will charge up our atmosphere nicely. Can you imagine if she fires off an X right when the moon is between sun and earth tomorrow and it hits like a bullseye? i wonder if that has ever happened. (It would just be the X x-ray emission not any CME), but still, that could be interesting.
