There is some filament action both in the E which looks like a liftoff, and one in the SE & NE that now seems to be feeding off of 1613s flares.

Northern Vermont here, and I work 3rd shift.

While outside on a smoke break I saw the aurora, lower on the horizon but def there , only the 3rd time I've seen it but it is so awesome! =)

Hugh how were you able to tell from those that it came from 1614? I have tried over and over to see what you are and I can't, lol

Well, whiteangel, you can't see the limb flares too good, but usually you can see a bright flash from any flares away from the edge. And the Hyder flares from filament eruptions are very well-defined in the H-alpha wavelength. The reason I look here first, is because they are ground-based telescopes, so there's no lag time waiting for spacecraft to download images and then NASA processing them. These are updated usually every minute in real-time.

First look at the latest still images for white spots and then click on the movie:

Got it, finally. Thank you Hugh. I was seeing 1611 popping also, and couldn't figure out how you knew which one it was. Got it now.

It is sad to see it die down so quickly. Guess it is something we should get use to seeing with cycle 24 winding down. Wonder if we really will get a Grand Minimum?

Much better after my rest - That was quite a monster session,excuse me if I became a little abrasive by the end,sometimes the stupid really does burn : )

I see the By/Bz and Temp. are still a little skittish,the SW Temperature just made Half a Million K before falling down to 300,000(ish)for a while,if things are still following the rollercoater-cluster-fluster of Yesterday I'd expect a few strange incidents again Today/Tonight.

Russian Space Agency loses communications with satellites, ISS. I hope this doesn't have any serious repercussions ie., space-collisions, nuclear first strikse, etc.---

MOSCOW, Russia - Russia on Wednesday, November 14 lost the ability to send commands to most of its satellites and its segment of the International Space Station following a power cable failure near Moscow.

The Roscosmos space agency attributed the embarrassing malfunction to basic road repair work near the the sprawling Korolyov mission control centre outside Moscow.

Officials said the problem may take 48 hours to fix and could theoretically delay the November 19 return to Earth of three ISS members who are completing their four-month mission on board the floating international space lab.

"We have not had a connection with the ground telemetry stationed in Russia for the past two hours," RIA Novosti quoted an unidentified source in the Russian space industry as saying.

"Our specialists lack the ability to control the civilian satellites or send commands to the Russian segment of the ISS," said the source, while adding the problem could take two days to fix.
