Re: SOLAR WATCH * 312 M & 25 X FLARES starting 3-7-2011 (Updated Daily)
Astronomers from the European Southern Observatory (ESO) organization to which Portugal belongs, first observed gas streams to flow in a disk of dust around a young star to feed gas giant planets in formation.

The observations were made with the supertelescópio ALMA (Atacama Large Millimeter / submillimeter Array), consisting of 66 parabolic antennas, which will be inaugurated in March in the Atacama desert in Chile, but it is already partly operational.

The international team of astronomers believes this critical step in the formation of gas giant planets like Jupiter, and the result of their research was published in Nature.

Young star 450 light years from Earth

The young star called HD 142527, is located more than 450 light-years away from Earth and is surrounded by a disk of gas and cosmic dust, the remains of the same material from which it formed.

The most recent theories argue that the gas giant planets grow as gas capture the outer disk of a star, in chains that form bridges that cross the space between it and its inner disk.

"Astronomers have been predicting the existence of these currents, but it is the first time we were able to see them directly," says Simon Casassus, University of Chile.

Yeah I've been waiting for this energetic pull to come our way but I was way off in my initial theory of it hitting early december. I think we'll still see some action as we come around the bend so to speak. We've got alot of time left even if we're close to flipping as polarities should become even more active with the transition. Most of you already know this so I'm just rambling, but we watch and wait and see what we can see

What is this?

[link to www.spaceweather.sflorg.com]

Is this a CME that didn't show up on any charts?

Nothing here?

[link to iswa.gsfc.nasa.gov:8080]

Apparently its from the eastern limb. Its the one TS showed me ,didn't realize it had an associated CME. Sorry for the confusion.

DUH! I'm getting sloppy, haven't had to look for a cme in awhile.lol ( thought it was data we were'nt getting)

Looks as if the big cme is from the western hyder flare

Looks like a double CME. Most likely this will be geoeffective. We'll have to wait on the usual suspects to confirm.

Re: SOLAR WATCH * 312 M & 25 X FLARES starting 3-7-2011 (Updated Daily)
The first CME was smaller and more Earth-facing. Apparently from the Hyder flare caught early today by S. Cesium.-

SIDC Comment-
COMMENT: Several C-class flares have been produced in the past 24h, the
strongest one being a C1.7 from NOAA AR 1640, peaking at 21:38 UT on
January 3. This AR has developed into a beta-gamma-delta magnetic
configuration. It will most likely produce more C-class flares, and has
potential for M-class events. In the last images from SWAP and SDO an
eruption can be seen in NOAA AR 1639 (located at S16 W30) starting at
09:00 UT. There is still not enough coronagraph data to asses a possible
Earth-directed CME.
Geomagnetic conditions are quiet and expected to
remain so.
[link to sidc.oma.be]

The second CME from the SW limb was larger and easily seen on the coronagraphs. This was probably too far west to be geo-effective, however we may see an Interplanetary Shock in the solar winds.

SOHO C3 image of 2nd CME:
[link to sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov]

NOAA Discussion:
.24 hr Summary...
Solar activity was low and flux emergence continued throughout the
visible disk. Region 1640 (N28W35) was responsible C1 flares at 03/2138
and 04/0053 UTC, among others. It was the most magnetically complex
spot group on the visible disk, maintaining an Eai/beta-gamma-delta spot
classification. Its larger trailing spot grew and consolidated while
the intermediate spots grew in number and extent. Region 1644 (N14E48)
was divided into two alpha type spot groups with the former follower
spot designated Region 1646 (N13E57). Six additional spot groups
appeared; one in the northwest, one in the southwest, two in the
northeast and two in the southeast. These new groups are being
monitored and ones that persist will be assigned region numbers. No
Earth-directed CMEs were observed during the period.

.Forecast...
Low solar activity levels remain likely with a slight chance for an
M-class flare for the next three days (04-06 Jan). Region 1640 remains
the most probable flare producer.

Lots 'o spots to keep track of today.

TS can you clarify what you are referring to when you say it's not making any sense?
 Quoting: ANHEDONIC

The deterioration of earth facing sunspots, only to have them go berserker on the far side, regardless of their classification. It makes no sense.

The idea that there were some electrical, magnetic pull, or other anomaly, even the galactic center itself was creating this scenario did not appeal to my sense of logic, until it seems as if there is no other reasoning behind it.

I assumed that last fall we would begin to see greater solar activity, as we had the fall of 2011, you know seasonal planetary configuration with the sun etc .... and there was none.

We are running out of excuses as to why earth facing sunspots die until they rotate over the western limb.

Of course it does not help that half of the data we use to see what is happening back there is suddenly unavailable ...

Very frustrating. I don't participate in a lot of theory, and depend on facts, but I listen to all of them for future use, and at times even in corroboration to the evidence/facts, but without the data .... well maybe I'll feel better tomorrow wink
 Quoting: TS66

Still seems to be some activity on the farside of the sun

from yesterday

I know it was discussed in earlier posts, but did anyone find a correlation between which side of the sun may be facing the galactic center while passing the galactic equator ??

Nothing else in my mind is making any sense. gaah

SOHO is down too !!! [link to stereo-ssc.nascom.nasa.gov] gaah gaah

My paranoid mind is kicking in; are we systematically being cut off from data ???
 Quoting: TS66

a thought i have on this
using the "sun moving through space" presentation by Nassim

[link to www.youtube.com]

we have no way of knowing where Earth is in rotation using the model in the above video
but if you go to the 1:23 or 1:24 mark on the video
kk keeping in mind the sun is moving tword the galactic center, thats on the exact right center of your screen/monitor
then turn your screen so that your viewing the image with earth at the bottom middle, with the sun directly above/in front of it
so that now your viewing it all from the SDO view
see what area of the sun is facing galactic center?

this could explaine the solar tsunami we saw on that eastern backside of the sun the last week in Dec 2012
and why today we are now seeing all these sunspots form in that same area
 Quoting: NiNzrez

Nice correlation Nin !! Galactic equator/center > solar tsunami > exponential increase of solar regions ... interesting.
 Quoting: TS66

been my belief ever since we noticed this die off and the backside eruptions.

can anyone actually place our sun in the galaxy?
really know just where we are....exactly where and how far above the galactic equator.....traveling just where....with what kind of rotation....anyone?
please do not just so me a picture!

In both vids, Nasssim's and the one above, both are showing the sun moving in a straight line. How do we/they know it moves in a straight line? What if the sun is also travelling in a wavelike pattern?

AR1640-Still Growing!
:1/5-1640:

Yippeee! Not to boast too loudly, but I was right about the 2 CMEs today.

from the NOAA Discussion:

Solar Activity-24 hr Summary...
Solar activity was low. Regions 1640 (N28W48) and 1650 (S26E77) were
both responsible for low level C1 flares at 04/0053 UTC and 04/1308 UTC,
respectively. Region 1640 continued to show growth and maintains a
beta-gamma-delta magnetic class.
The X-ray background has increased
from yesterdays value of B3.5 to approximately B8.4.
New flux
emergence was observed southwest of 1640 and southeast of 1646. These
new regions were numbered as 1647 (N16W55) and 1648 (N05E53). Two new
Hsx/alpha regions rotated around the southeast limb and were numbered as
1649 (S14E74) and 1650 (S26E77). Region 1651 (N19E48), a simple
Axx/alpha spot was also numbered. Two CMEs were observed in STEREO A
COR2 imagery at 04/0924 UTC and 04/1424 UTC. The first was likely
associated with flare activity from Region 1639 (S16W38) at 04/0831 UTC.
The second appeared to be from an area on the southeast quadrant of
STEREO A EUVI 195 imagery at 04/1355 UTC. Current LASCO imagery shows
the second CME, which is less likely to be geoeffective given its
proximity to the soutwest limb. We are waiting on further imagery to
determine geoeffectiveness of the first CME.

.Forecast...
Solar activity is expected to be low with a chance for M-class flares
during the forecast period (05-07 Jan). The most likely region to
produce M-class flares is 1640.

Ironically, whiteangel, with all of these spots......the LDE flare is coming from beyond the NE limb. Hahaha...our next new spot.

Shoot, that means it will decay as it becomes more earth facing. Oh well.
I can see how it might be possible for a man to look down upon the earth and be an atheist, but I cannot conceive how a man could look up into the heavens and say there is no God.

I didn't copy it but this comment goes to the comment right above me by Psy. I don't have the answer, I have one more question. In both vids, Nasssim's and the one above, both are showing the sun moving in a straight line. How do we/they know it moves in a straight line? What if the sun is also travelling in a wavelike pattern?

The Sun also moves in a vortex fashion, it is after all rotating around it's binary star Sirius. I think he does mention it in that conference. Our Galaxy also has a binary star, I think it's Sagittarius. It's an amazing Universe if you get deep enough into it's rabbit hole.

Thanks El Q, so that adds a couple more dimensions to the dynamics. Yes, definitely an amazing Universe.

This [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] is just intense(the Fields).

Notice the Vortex like pattern in the Chromosphere around 1640 [link to halpha.nso.edu] it is very much more pronounced in 304 [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] and looks almost like a Umbilical feeding channel(bellybutton)to me.

There is so much going on with Sol right now hey!?

Pretty sure this is the beginning,I'm expecting lots more AR's to pop up all over the disc.
