SOLAR WATCH * 248 M & 18 X FLARES starting 3-7-2011 (Updated Daily)

so not to be a harper...but....
the responses to my "where the heck is the sun in the galaxy and or universe?"...
well pretty pictures not even close to scientific and scale.
and pure speculation in articles....

where are the JPL's charts with data and numbers.
using stars that are millions and billions of light years away...well if we are 1/4" off here on earth could put us million or billions of miles off in any predictions.
spins wobbles and electromagnetic fields all over in the universe make all this just guesses!

from what i have read the best minds give position of just crossing the galactic plane thousands of years in all directions.

i do not think we as humans really have any idea where the sun is in our galaxy yet alone this universe.

is there any data coming from voyagers to help decide what might be the leading side of the sun in it's travel?

just a thought on our suns placement in the universe.....

i was just thinking how the moon is in orbit around the earth and is rotating but the same side is always facing the earth.

now do we see this, or even have the tech to see this happen with planets to their suns. or even suns to their galactic centers?

or even more so....would a sun be in orbit and the rotation always facing the direction it is headed?

IA. Analysis of Solar Active Regions and Activity from 03/2100Z to
04/2100Z: Solar activity has been at low levels for the past 24 hours.
The largest solar event of the period was a C1 event observed at
03/2138Z from Region 1640 (N28W48). There are currently 12 numbered
sunspot regions on the disk.

IB. Solar Activity Forecast: Solar activity is expected to be at low
levels with a chance for M-class flares on days one, two, and three (05
Jan, 06 Jan, 07 Jan).

take the image of the sun here [link to spaceweather.com] overlay it with earth. wonder if each sunspot would be a earthquake in that location.

It initially for about 2 minutes was registere as an 8.1, then removed and dropped to the 7.8

Another fun fact, the decay rate of Manganese-54 has been known to slow measurably a little over a day BEFORE solar flares

Scroll go to the second animation and you'll see this quake went schizo in all directions. It is most bizarre!

What's important about this is that the USGS only showed the "tail" feeling it. That's nonsense for a temblor event of this magnitude. One StanDeyo/Millennium-ark site reader from Oklahoma reported that he felt it there. It lasted 1:30 minutes.

How do you read the map? I see grey dots and white dots. Are they locations of seismographs or represent data? Also, I clicked on his recent updates and they only go up to Dec. 30, where is the most recent info and where can I find the AK 7.7 warning from yesterday? Thanks

1 quake, dif reading agencies/servers
sometimes you will see posts all over after a big quake claiming we had a world wide earthquake because of how the Pwaves from a quake are picked up on all the seismic servers world wide (like we see here [link to earthquake.usgs.gov] )
or how there was not just 1 7.8 earthquake, but 5/6/9 or however many
because someone will see the same quake thats being registered on dif agencies/servers
i love the golablquake map site because they list a lot of them
but it can cause some confusion and make it look like there was way more than just the one main quake

.24 hr Summary...
Solar activity was at moderate levels due to an impulsive M1 flare from
newly numbered Region 1652 (N20E74) at 05/0931 UTC. Region 1652 and new Region 1653 (N09E78) are still too close in proximity to the northeast
limb for accurate spot classifications. There are currently 14 numbered
regions on the visible disk. Slight growth was seen in Regions 1640
(N28W62), 1644 (N15E20), and 1648 (N05E40). Slight decay was observed
in Regions 1645 (S14W32) and 1647 (N15W69). No Earth-directed CMEs were
observed during the period. A WSA/ENLIL model run was performed on the
04 January CME that likely occurred from Region 1639 (S16W52) first seen
in STEREO A COR 2 imagery at 04/0924 UTC. Based on the CMEs location, a
glancing blow is possible by late on 08 January.

.Forecast...
Solar activity is expected to be at low levels with a chance for further
M-class flares for the forecast period (06-08 Jan). The most likely
Regions for M-class activity are Regions 1640 and 1652.

Here's the ENLIL CME Model referred to by NOAA in my last post. Remember we had 2 CMEs on the 4th and the 2nd one was on the SW limb and considered not to become geoeffective. They acknowledged the first CME was Earth-facing, but lacked the data for a prediction. Well, now it looks to ba glancing blow on the 8th with solar Proton density forecast to be less than 20p/cu.cm. Maybe we'll see a corotating interaction region as it may get sandwiched between the coronal hole stream and the second CME.
