I would have said Solens definition above is one of a BGD - Maybe I need to go and re-read everything again!?

I know and yet this said no BGD. Of course the sucker really isn't popping anything either so I don't know. Guess I am just a suntard that wants some major action, not catastrophic!

It's unfortunate that it will probably take some major catastrophic event to get more funding to space science. The amount of money this country puts into solar science and space science as a whole is pretty pitiful. Even then...I am amazed at what we can do with the limited funding available!

Amen to that buddy. Im all for a space based programme instead of killing eachother for profit on arms. Problem is comming up against other dimensions on other planets.

Yeah - I guess it's a discussion for another thread but space research lacks so much. BUT as I said before, that's not to say that the superstars in the field are not doing great.

The sad thing is...when we have another Carrington-esque event, the politicians will all act like they are heroes for beginning to fund research. Space is so vast, and in many cases so deadly - we cannot afford to forego funding on such a dangerous thing.

Strange that the tentacles heading South-West I mentioned earlier are doing so as there is a void rather than Field Lines in that region [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] and the PFSS [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] ?

Could be like how a Low moves into a High(PS).

but i just looked and their new eport is now posted

Region 11654 [N08E47] extended and has polarity intermixing, particularly in the leading spot section. Major M and X class flares are possible. The region produced the only C5+ flare of the day, a C8.0 event at 17:46 UTC.
