We're coming up on sunspot #1666 soon, too.

There's still a bit of confusion regarding the source of the C5.8 flare. There was obviously two simultaneous events, one was east and one was west. Myself and Solarsoft originally called it coming from 1654. When the SDO and EVE images came in, we both changed to the new region in the NE.

NOAA has re-attributed the flare to 1654. So it goes, hehe....

.24 hr Summary...
Solar activity has been low for the past 24 hours. There were three
numbered sunspot regions on the disk. Region 1654 (N07W59) produced the
largest event of the period, a C5/Sf flare at 18/1707 UTC with an
associated Type II radio sweep estimated at 1,695 km/s. Region 1654
continued to exhibit decay. We are currently awaiting LASCO imagery to
determine if a CME was associated with the C5 flare at 18/1707 UTC.

There was some ejecta from a filament at 1654, but I believe the C5 flare itself was from the eastern region. Here's EVE link-

Hugh, that event out of 54 looks like it has two components itself, a southern and a northern flaring.

That is a LOT of action coming out of 54, and earth footpoint in same spot, should be interesting as Hugh said.

Hi Shada, just saw your comment on Gabe's thread and was looking around at the charts but I don't see anything other than we've got an incoming cme tomorrow, so maybe some preliminary flux. I didn't check the magnetosphere sim yet though. I have that deep brain pressure thingy.

Update, yeah, there was some action today, even a little penetration couple hours ago.

I see A giant box shape in the suns corona around 7 o clock.

Why is there a near perfect geometric shape in the sun?

Reminds me of the Triangle months ago.

I've been waiting 14 hours for the SOHO images to see if we had a CME. NASA still hasn't posted them but I found the images at the Naval Research Lab LASCO site. I still don't see a whole lot, but here goes...

The Stereo B is around 23:00 on the 18th but does appear to show(to the Right)a outline of a CME though faint - As Hugh know,Hugh,that would imply that it was ejected on the Earth facing portion of the Disc and seemingly rather well positioned to be on a straight course toward Earth,anyone else see that too?

The C2 Image is from the 15th as is the C3!?

The Magnetograms of the South of the Sun look a little peculiar to me [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] and Colo(u)ri(s)ed [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] .
