EARTH-DIRECTED ERUPTION: The magnetic canopy of decaying sunspot AR1667 erupted this morning (Feb. 6th @ 00:21 UT), producing a C9-class solar flare and hurling a coronal mass ejection into space. According to first-look images from NASA's STEREO-B spacecraft, the CME appears to be heading in the general direction of Earth. If so, the likely time of arrival would be Feb. 8-9. Stay tuned for updated forecasts. [link to spaceweather.com]

I would have thought that Plasma falling back in from that distance through outbound Plasma would cause a fair bit of charge,no?

[link to sdodata.oma.be] - there seems to be a lot of energy on our side of the Sun for the baseline to be at a low B - [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov]

Am I missing something? Usually, when the Sun is showing that much Earth-facing energy, the baseline is a mid-to-high B level.

Do the voids of the coronal holes cancel out the other energy?

This same region of the Sun has done this a few times in the last Week, quite bizarre behavior for sure,a juggling/yoyoing of Plasma like that is a little strange as it is falling back from quite some distance, during a CME also - Magnetic Tides.

How's you Today?

Oh,wow...this is pretty cool -

'Herschel Finds Star Possibly Making Planets Past Its Prime

WASHINGTON -- A star thought to have passed the age at which it can form planets may in fact be creating new worlds. The disk of material surrounding the surprising star called TW Hydrae may be massive enough to make even more planets than we have in our own solar system.

The findings were made using the European Space Agency's Herschel Space Telescope, a mission in which NASA is a participant.

At roughly 10 million years old and 176 light years away, TW Hydrae is relatively close to Earth by astronomical standards. Its planet-forming disk has been well studied. TW Hydrae is relatively young but, in theory, it is past the age at which giant planets already may have formed
