Re: SOLAR WATCH * 312 M & 25 X FLARES starting 3-7-2011 (Updated Daily)
I'm not really seeing a storm guys other than the mag simulation ....

Wind speed, temp, and density are low if anything.

[link to www.swpc.noaa.gov]

Global D is clear.
 Quoting: TS66

I think that is the point of BendingLight's theory. There is no solar activity on the day(s) that our Magnetosphere is being hammered, yet SpaceWeather, and other sites always come out with a story afterward, conveniently blaming it on the Sun.
 Quoting: muse_1111

I understand muse, and there is no solar activity, (minus the CME from the NE this morning)but there should be some reflection in electrons, protons, solar wind speed, density, temp. This is the data the creates the simulation, not the other way around.
 Quoting: TS66

what if it ties into what sepentary man was posting about last week.
if freq's from earth are possibly causing the magnetics to change ACE would not......oh right...does the sim get all info from ACE and GOES data?
ACE and GOES DATA GAPS??????????????
maybe the sim did not receive the data-gap?
 Quoting: psyoptics

I don't know really, but yes you're right. The simulation is not "data" it is a visual aid created and represents THE data. 1dunno1

We've got mag disturbance yet no culprit? hmmmmmm

Need to do some searching in several recent threads.

Yes Shada, Cesium brought that to our attention earlier in the day in correlation to the CME.

I don't see any geomagnetic disturbance whatsoever. The planetary K-index is at 1=quiet:

Even the polar regions look quiet now:

ACE shows nominal wind velocity with some minor proton variations:

True,true 66 : )

I thought I'd post this LPAC presentation on 'Le Grande Minimum' - I usually cannot stand these folks and to be honest I am surprised they managed to get all the way through without once mentioning 'Glass-Steagall' chuckle

It has some tid-bits of information that make it worth a watch/listen,most of which begins after the halfway mark -

[link to www.youtube.com]

Also there is this one too that I fell asleep listening to,the chap that made it seems to have a fair few things he wanted to get of his chest as the title of the video doesn't bear much reference to its content, allegory after allegory.

This is 'Super-Conspiracy' or Supiracy as I'll call it -

'Resistance is Futile' chuckle

[link to www.youtube.com]

So he doesn't quite make the case for the video title but he does drone on with some interesting little bits'a'infosun

The first video has some points worth noting where-as the second is a old mans rambling on about this and that with not much relation to the titlewink

Say we did get a MIA,we could avoid it by moving to the Equator - Though the rush for middle Earth would be a crush rush and a half!

I'd like to make it known that I am not saying we are entering a period similar to those of a MIA just pointing out some evidence that could be used to argue the possibility.

Re: SOLAR WATCH * 312 M & 25 X FLARES starting 3-7-2011 (Updated Daily)
The declining overall Magnetic Fields of Sunspots in Recent Years is of particular relevance, seen here in Gauss [link to science.nasa.gov] Article [link to science.nasa.gov]

A Abstract of a Penn/Livingston Paper -

'Long-term Evolution of Sunspot Magnetic Fields
Matthew Penn, William Livingston
(Submitted on 3 Sep 2010)

Independent of the normal solar cycle, a decrease in the sunspot magnetic field strength has been observed using the Zeeman-split 1564.8nm Fe I spectral line at the NSO Kitt Peak McMath-Pierce telescope. Corresponding changes in sunspot brightness and the strength of molecular absorption lines were also seen. This trend was seen to continue in observations of the first sunspots of the new solar Cycle 24, and extrapolating a linear fit to this trend would lead to only half the number of spots in Cycle 24 compared to Cycle 23, and imply virtually no sunspots in Cycle 25.
We examined synoptic observations from the NSO Kitt Peak Vacuum Telescope and initially (with 4000 spots) found a change in sunspot brightness which roughly agreed with the infrared observations. A more detailed examination (with 13,000 spots) of both spot brightness and line-of-sight magnetic flux reveals that the relationship of the sunspot magnetic fields with spot brightness and size remain constant during the solar cycle. There are only small temporal variations in the spot brightness, size, and line-of-sight flux seen in this larger sample. Because of the apparent disagreement between the two data sets, we discuss how the infrared spectral line provides a uniquely direct measurement of the magnetic fields in sunspots

I'm following Madajas train of theory right now, anticipating some serious solar action, and expansion of the atmosphere.

My reason being only, there was far more activity a year prior to the flip (whether it has actually happened or not yet), and there is no reason to believe we won't experience more on our way down slope to our minimum.

Also, I'd certainly LIKE to see more before we hit the inevitable spotless days. Who knows if we will ever manage to see, economically or otherwise, the next max.

Re: SOLAR WATCH * 312 M & 25 X FLARES starting 3-7-2011 (Updated Daily)
I'm following Madajas train of theory right now, anticipating some serious solar action, and expansion of the atmosphere.

My reason being only, there was far more activity a year prior to the flip (whether it has actually happened or not yet), and there is no reason to believe we won't experience more on our way down slope to our minimum.

Also, I'd certainly LIKE to see more before we hit the inevitable spotless days. Who knows if we will ever manage to see, economically or otherwise, the next max.

I'll raise your :

"All bases considered is what we do,no?"

and throw in my wishes hf

I don't see any geomagnetic disturbance whatsoever. The planetary K-index is at 1=quiet:

Even the polar regions look quiet now:

ACE shows nominal wind velocity with some minor proton variations:

Satellite environment all good:

No spaceweather warnings, alerts or notices:

When nothing happens folks start imagining things IMO.

So you don't see the CME on HI2 then Hugh?

Or the rising nT on the Magnetometer [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] that looks like action to me,wait for the drop.

Also the ACE Data when fed into the Mag. Sim. is showing this [link to ccmc.gsfc.nasa.gov] .

Hello by the way : )

The geomagnetic (Kp) indices gave gone from 0 to 1 today. If you want to call that a 'storm' or a 'disturbance' be my guest, but we're not even halfway to 'unsettled' yet. Geospace has been so quiet that folks seem to forget what a G3 storm looks like. I wouldn't even call this a hiccup.

Don't let me ruin a good doom-fest..........I'm going back to being bored.

whatever

I did say 'Wait for the drop'.

I also didn't say we were Storming,Geo Storming is'nt a storm until at least a 4 - I pointed out the rise on the Magnetometer and the simulation of the data on the ccmc link as well as the splodge on HI and why there is a slight disturbance, slight.

Sheesh kebab Hugh - Don't muddle my posts with the posts of others - simply posted what I am seeing and the potential reason,no storming claimed.

Respect and peace.

I won't post all the individual MPegs but instead just the Stereo Site [link to stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov] lots to be seen!

Of note the EUVI Behind/Ahead and HI2s' and COR2s' and COR1 Behind.

Basically all of them : )

Edit:They just scrubbed the MPegs,nevermind.
