I'm to understand that PanSTARRS will be visible in the northern hemisphere starting around the 8th, would you happen to know which direction to look right after sunset?

I found this link and info when searching for an answer to your question.
[link to waitingforison.wordpress.com]
"Well, if you live in the middle latitudes of the northern hemisphere, it’s really quite simple. From March 10th or so you look towards the west right after sunset, and start looking for a smudgy… thing… in the sky. That will be Comet PANSTARRS. This graphic from NASA shows what I mean by that very well… (Note: don’t take the picture TOO literally, at least not the way the comet is shown. That’s just a guide. It will look more like a misty “V” than the single, straight, vapour trail-like line shown here)"

Updates on Comet Panstarrs-

March 1: Yep, naked eye! From Buenos Aires, veteran comet observer and science journalist Mariano Ribas writes,

"Since last night (Feb. 28th) comet PanSTARRS is a naked-eye object in the Buenos Aires sky, despite its low altitude (a few degrees over the SW horizon at evening twilight) and the strong urban light pollution. I estimated it a magnitude around 2.8. Almost a full magnitude brighter than just 3 days ago!

"With 10x50 binoculars, the comet looks yellowish, and the center of its coma looks not only brighter now, but also shows a very high degree of concentration. Also, I could easily see a 1º tail against the light blue sky of twilight.

"If that trend continues in the next days, I think that this comet could be a great astronomical show in the days around its perihelion March 10th."

And although Comet ISON is 430 million miles from the sun, you may want to bookmark ISON's Twitter page for later:

Howdy, mtn mang, perihelion is on the 10th so it will be too close to the sun. Look for it around the 15th or after. If it's not in the news you'll find updates here.

Here I found the Comet PANSTARRS finder chart. Start looking after sunset around the 12th.

On a related note, I must have impressed them because I got a call back within 4 hours of the interview with an offer. Comet Siding Spring may collide with Mars in Oct. 2014-

A few days ago Russian amateur (and comet discoverer) Leonid Elenin identified the comet's close approach to the Red Planet next year. Turns out he wasn't the first to notice. "The JPL small-body system automatically checks for close approaches to all planets and the Moon," comments dynamicist Paul Chodas, "and we've been monitoring this impact probability for several weeks now."

OK, what if it hits Mars?

Both simulations yielded craters at least 6 miles (10 km) deep. The smaller assumption creates a basin 100 miles (160 km) across. But the larger one's outcome is off the charts: an enormous pit more than 500 miles (800 km) across. Size-wise, this would be one of the top 10 impacts ever on the Red Planet!
"These would be really big holes in the ground," Melosh says. "But since the average recurrence interval for such large craters is very long, we would have to be very, very lucky to have such a thing happen in our lifetimes."

Fear not. NASA will have pictures...they have lots of Martian orbiters.

"But C/2013 A1 poses danger for these craft as well. The comet should pass by close enough to completely immerse Mars in its gas-and-dust coma. Who knows what might rain down onto the Martian surface?"

Re: SOLAR WATCH * 312 M & 25 X FLARES starting 3-7-2011 (Updated Daily)
BREAKING: Third Radiation Belt Discovered Around Earth!

Let me take pleasure in scooping Spaceweather.com and Suspicious Observer on this one, hehe.

This newly discovered 'Van Allen radiation belt' is seemingly a direct consequence of solar activity. NASA scientists were surprised because they had no idea this existed. From the NASA press release-

"But a group of scientists on the mission made a case for changing the plan. They asked that the Relativistic Electron Proton Telescope (REPT) be turned on early – just three days after launch -- in order that its observations would overlap with another mission called SAMPEX (Solar, Anomalous, and Magnetospheric Particle Explorer), that was soon going to de-orbit and re-enter Earth's atmosphere.

It was a lucky decision. Shortly before REPT turned on, solar activity on the sun had sent energy toward Earth that caused the radiation belts to swell. The REPT instrument worked well from the moment it was turned on Sep. 1. It made observations of these new particles trapped in the belts, recording their high energies, and the belts' increased size.

Then something happened no one had ever seen before: the particles settled into a new configuration, showing an extra, third belt extending out into space. Within mere days of launch, the Van Allen Probes showed scientists something that would require rewriting textbooks.

"By the fifth day REPT was on, we could plot out our observations and watch the formation of a third radiation belt," says Shri Kanekal, the deputy mission scientist for the Van Allen Probes at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. and a coauthor of a paper on these results. "We started wondering if there was something wrong with our instruments. We checked everything, but there was nothing wrong with them. The third belt persisted beautifully, day after day, week after week, for four weeks."

Yup, thought that name popping up again should have had a RED FLAG beside it.

Thank goodness you see that also Angel!

Didn't we discover there is no 'Leonid Elenin' or am I mistaken?

I think it is a pseudonym.

The name is just to fantastically cosmic to be real,if you see what I mean!?

From NOAA"s 'Discussion'-

Solar Wind
.24 hr Summary...
Solar wind speed, as observed by the ACE spacecraft, indicates that the
ACE/Earth are currently under the influence of a CH/HSS. Wind speeds
increased over the past 24hrs from below 400 km/s to just over 650 km/s
at the time of this report. Interplanetary magnetic field Bt values
peaked near 18 nT at HSS onset, while the Bz component dipped as far
south as -15 nT.
Bt is currently near 6nT and Bz has been
intermittently hitting -5nT. The phi angle transitioned from a positive
(away) sector to a predominately negative (toward) sector at around
01/0200 UTC, where it has remained since.

.Forecast...
Continued elevated solar wind speed is expected for the next three days
(02 - 04 Mar) due to CH/HSS effects.

Geospace

.24 hr Summary...
The geomagnetic field began the period at active levels with the onset
of CH/HSS effects. An isolated minor storm period (NOAA Scale G1 -
Minor) was observed during the 01/0900-1200 UTC window. Active
conditions were observed each period since.

.Forecast...
Continued active conditions are expected on day 1 (02 Mar) due to
continuing CH/HSS effects. A slight chance for an isolated minor
geomagnetic storm (NOAA Scale G1 - Minor) remains during the overnight
hours
. The geomagnetic field is expected to settle a bit for days 2 and
3 (03-04 Mar), with conditions expected to decrease to quiet to
unsettled levels.

There are way to many cosmically fantastic also. They are throwing alot of things at those who are watching
“One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.” – Carl Sagan
