Great job, sounds! That goes for your music, too, matey. When I was in Colorado last summer a youth had an H-alpha Sunscope on the streetcorner offering peeks to the tourists for a donation. Of course I stopped to chat solar stuff with him....it was very cool. I just hope we get some more megaspots for you to image soon.

I hope that is a malfunction of sorts and not rapidly Dying Sunspots!?

Can't be dying Sunspots,perhaps it is to do with the Eclipse season,EVE is also blank [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] .

So 1686 is the AR in the southwest and I goofed reading that earlier. I just assumed they were numbering the new SE regions. It seems they thought the whole SE was one big happy group. I think now that pot is legal in Colorado they should move NOAA a little further away from the fumes, LOL. I could easily see two distinct ARs close together when they were still on the backside! Here's their lame explanation-

.24 hr Summary...
Solar activity was at very low levels for the past 24 hours. Three
sunspot regions have been numbered in the past 24 hours, Region
1686(S13W31) a simple beta group, Region 1687(N06E65) another simple
beta group that is still rotating into view, and finally Region
1685(S16E46) was split into two separate regions with the more southerly
region becoming Region 1688(S17E52). Magnetogram and intensitygram
images from the SDO spacecraft, as well as ground based observations,
suggested that Region 1685 was in fact two separate developing regions.
Even though there are currently 9 numbered active regions on the disk, 8
with sunspots, very little solar activity has been observed. Region
1683(S16E30) remains the most likely region for continued solar
activity, however current observations show this region to now display
only beta magnetic characteristics. Around 03/0800 UTC, a filament
eruption was observed in h-alpha imagery. Coronagraph imagery does not
suggest a coronal mass ejection (CME) associated with this event, thus
implying the filament did not eject off the disk, but was rather
reabsorbed.

well, Duh!, seems like NOAA is on a 48-hour delay....maybe the Pentagon has to approve their every move. Maybe they will be "reabsorbed" by the sequestration,haha. Anyway, here's the scorecard for today-

Interesting, the article is quite certain, yet the condition code is 7 (0-9 for certainty of orbit)on JPL.

At least we wont have so long to "wait and see" on this one . Looks like this article was posted either an hour after or 4 hours before the meteors closest approach !!

A newly discovered asteroid similar to the Russian meteor that hit two weeks ago is set to pass Earth at an approximate distance of the moon's orbit Monday, Mar. 4, at 2:35 a.m. ET (7:35 a.m. UTC). The asteroid identified as 2013 EC was discovered by Arizona's Mount Lemmon Observatory Saturday

Not to discredit this but i have serious issues with the entire thing. I for one cannot hear ANYTHING that the truck driver says to back up what the videotaper is saying. Second it is very obvious that the guy taping is very tactfully speaking over and in thwe right spots to make it seem like a certain thing is being said. I may be wrong but i call bs on the guy taping this video. I wont say more.

Your right Snake bite the guy with the camera was trying to be the new Al Jo at Bohemian Grove or something !!! LOL.

The trucker, from what I could hear was just answering what he could, but no security ??? I would hope DHS would be keeping better track of who was entering a restricted underground road, whether there were a hidden agenda or not, rather than allowing some goof lurk outside it with a camera ... all very strange.

the guy should have drove in and we could see how far he got......
