Thank you NiNz - I was expecting,as all were,a clipping from those Eruptions but didn't expect to see such a sudden dive - I have seen the same from other CME impacts where both readings went off the scale and +250 -50 had to be included - Just did not in any way really expect such a sweep!

Hugh had this one down quite well if you look a few pages back - It is a combo CME/CH hf

Thank you for clarification NiNz.

Awesome photos by the way(never seen you outside of here before, life looks luvly)

 Quoting: Spittin'Cesium

neither did i!
i was kinda thinking that we might have missed the hit because it was getting late into the 20th
and thank you for the compliment :)
 Quoting: NiNzrez

No problem on the compliment - I held back a little to be honest.

But,yes,it does look luvly : )

If this is not just the CH Arrival but CME as well,is the CME not a little early,a little-little?

'.Forecast...
The geomagnetic field is expected to be at quiet to unsettled levels for
days 1 and 2 (20-21 Mar) as CH HSS effects are observed. Late on day 2
(21 Mar), forecasted CME effects from the 17 March filament eruptions
are expected to increase geomagnetic activity to quiet to active levels.
On day 3, (22 Mar), expect quiet to unsettled conditions as CME effects
begin to wane
.' [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov]

It could have been helped along by the CHS I suppose, the Magnetometer at present is showing a continued dive(though small so far and nothing like the initial bump that made me jump a few Minutes back [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] : )

I freaked for a moment when I saw only one registered reading, and one so steep in decline, lol hf

 Quoting: Spittin'Cesium

well the south east filament occured on the 17th, to have it arrive on 20th would be 3days, tomorrow would be 4th day
i had it set to arrive late last night (19th into sometime today
it was not super fast, but it sure was not slow enough to take 4 days to arrive.. imo of course ^^
the path was already plowed by the previous CMEs as well as ongoing increased winds, so that helped it along some, yes
 Quoting: NiNzrez

Highlighted - Thank you Ninz,I sometimes forget to think of these things - That makes perfect sense.

Message to brain 'Download,input,compute'.

Ta muchly!

I'm waiting on a non-auto assigned depth for the larger one.

Last I checked it was the default 10Km/6.2 Miles.

And EUVI Ahead [link to stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov]

And Behind [link to stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov] the Ejections I mentioned above are all plainly visible.

this was posted the day of the south east filament

The storm is subsiding now, but more auroras could be in the offing. A solar wind stream is due to brush against Earth's magnetic field on March 19-20. The impact won't be as strong as that of the March 17th CME. It should be enough, however, to spark some more Arctic lights.

Re: SOLAR WATCH * M2.4 Solar Flare July 14 2017! Earth directed CME (Updated Daily)
NOAA's official take on recent solar wind changes today-

Solar Wind

.24 hr Summary...
Solar wind speed, as measured at the ACE spacecraft, remained between
400-500 km/s for the first half of the summary period. Around 1600 UTC a
change in phi angle was observed, from negative to positive, as well as
a rapid increase in solar wind speed, from 500 km/s to around 700 km/s.
This increase in solar wind was short lived and after about 3 hours
returned to speeds once again around 500 km/s. Initial analysis thought
this could be the expected solar sector boundary (SSB) crossing, however
solar wind temperature measurements suggests this could have also been a
small transient CME. At around 1900 UTC, the phi angle switched again
from positive back to negative, lending weight to the small transient
theory.

.Forecast...
Solar wind speeds are expected to be slightly enhanced above normal
levels on day 1 (21 Mar) as coronal hole high speed stream (CH HSS)
effects continue. Late on day 1, two CMEs are expected to arrive at
Earth. Slight increases in solar wind speed as well a increases in the
Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) are likely
. A return to slightly
elevated solar wind parameters is expected on day 2 (22 Mar) as CME
effects begin to wane. On day 3 (23 Mar), another CME is forecast to
become geoeffective, however very little impact is expected in solar
wind signatures.

Howdy, friend! Did you hear the news? NASA's Voyager science team has reached a concensus that they're not ready to retire yet nor look for other employment, LOL.

NASA-March 20, 2013

"The Voyager team is aware of reports today that NASA's Voyager 1 has left the solar system," said Edward Stone, Voyager project scientist based at the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, Calif. "It is the consensus of the Voyager science team that Voyager 1 has not yet left the solar system or reached interstellar space. In December 2012, the Voyager science team reported that Voyager 1 is within a new region called 'the magnetic highway' where energetic particles changed dramatically. A change in the direction of the magnetic field is the last critical indicator of reaching interstellar space and that change of direction has not yet been observed."

good good ^^
thats the main reason i found the vanishing of that coronal hole over a 4 day period SO interesting
makes me wonder what bigger stuff is going on within that sun right now
we shall see over the next few days if it is anything important or not

NiNz,did I not share this [link to www.leif.org] with you?

nooooo
thank you for that!!!!!
so they switched then.....

Exactly,no-one would here me though - Even had S0 broadcast it to Thousands, still nowt.

Thank you NiNz.

ahhh man.. why the hell not!?!
this is huge!

but had to look into this closer
no flip just yet, it almost did, then stabelized

here is the WSO solar dipole
[link to wso.stanford.edu]

here is just the North, where we can see it reversed
[link to wso.stanford.edu]

and here is just the South, where we can see it went to the very point of reversal, then stopped and stabelized
[link to wso.stanford.edu]

with it being THAT close, we could be seeing a solar polar flip at any sek without much notice at all

Just a gueeess.

The solar system itself is said to be moving with a constant or a variable velocity.
If it is true, it may happen that voyager-I cannot reach its horizon just as if an airplane on Earth is flying toward sunset direction at mid-night with a specific constant speed, the Sun never dawns from the perspective of the pilot.

we can see here that since stabelizing, as stated above, the southern polar field is now growing toward and close to the flip/reverals again.
[link to wso.stanford.edu]
(this was the last reported reading on Feb 26th - almost a month back)
it would be a bit more than uncommon to see it stabelize once more when it hits the reversal stage

Yes,it is crazy...It looks like the poles are smeered around the Sun in patches, check the magnetograms and this is kind of visible sometimes - with a large predominant Polarity occupying sections of the Sun at different times,it definitely did achieve at one point a crossing before something happened...I'll read the rest of your comment and links to find out what, exactly.

Thank you NiNz for being so on ithf

Fucking Awesome.
