The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and good will shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers! And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee!" That huge filament liftoff produced a gigantic CME off the east limb. Of course SOHO was asleep at the time.

Found this comment on a thread related to the diode plot. I found it helpful (still not real clear though on how to read it).

Solar Dynamics Observatory Extreme Ultraviolet Variability Experiment.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 992437

ADDENDA: The Extreme ultraviolet Spectro-Photometer (ESP) is one of five EVE instruments.

ESP measures solar irradiance in the zeroth order and four first order channels as count rates (counts per second). Each channel count rate is a function of many input parameters, e.g., intensity and spectral distribution of solar irradiance, dark currents, sensitivity to different wavelengths, distance to the Sun, degradation of the instrument, etc. All these parameters are combined in the ESP solar irradiance algorithm...FOR MORE SEE PDF FILE:

We don't always have an Xray event with the filament lift offs...

But Ive seen Hyder Flares as a consequence on a few occasions :) and then you would see corresponing action on the XRay Flux!

Here's some info on Hyder Flares:

Hyder Flares

What is a Hyder flare?

Flares are intense brightenings that occur in the solar chromosphere. Flares are generally observed from Earth using narrow band filters, typically with a bandwidth of less than 0.1 nm, and often centred on the Hydrogen-Alpha wavelength of 656.3 nm. (Flares also have counterparts, that is, sudden outbursts, in the radio and X-ray spectrum).

Most flares occur around active regions associated with sunspot groups. However, occasionally a flare (sudden brightening) is observed well away from an active region or sunspot group. These flares are invariably associated with the sudden disappearance of a large (thick, long, 'bushy') dark solar filament, and are termed Hyder flares

Have any of you come across any solid theories on the Earth-Facing Quiet?

and I'd love to hear some of your own theories if possible!!

Thanks in advance!

Ison drawing energy to itself? It is drawing near and somewhat opposite/on the other side of the sun. I think it is going to get very interesting not to far down the road.

We've had dozens if not more discussions on it. Many concerning fluffy, energy convection, our own increasing polarity movement and our magnetic connection to sol. The galactic center pulling energy away, even the hidden mini black hole phenom. I 've come to the conclussion that.....I don't have a clue, but if you go back a thousand or so pages when all of this started to become noticeable you may find a clue
