That roughly jives with predictions of the sunspot max as well [link to www.sidc.oma.be] As always, for those wanting to follow the pole reversal live, this chart is a good resource [link to www.leif.org] (the last reading of the south pole proper showed it had 40 microtesla of positive (+) polarity yet to shed before it will be ready to transition) Nice to see you M! Theres always a lot of merit in your posts! “One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.” – Carl Sagan |

AR 1817, this baby has certainly grown this morning. [link to i1245.photobucket.com] I’m looking forward to more M class flares from this group of spots. AR 1818 has also grown slightly from yesterday you can also see old sunspot 1793 top left. [link to i1245.photobucket.com] I have high hopes that this sunspot will soon give us a little action. Love & Light all. Political correctness without wisdom, is just Political nonsense. |

Solar activity reached moderate levels. Region 1817 (S23E07, Dac/beta-gamma-delta) produced an impulsive M1/Sn flare at 12/1041 UTC. Despite an impulsive profile and a lack of supporting radio signatures, a CME was observed in both LASCO C2/C3 as well as STEREO A shortly after the M1 event. Analysis of this event suggests a narrow and slow event with trajectory largely to the south and unlikely to have a notable earthward component. Both Regions 1817 and 1818 (S07E34, Dsi/beta-gamma) grew in area and evolved more complex magnetic structures; an east/west inversion line remains apparent in Region 1817 and intermixed magnetic fields were visible in both regions. This shows us the sun is getting very very close to reversing and kicking into solarmax |

"But the plans were on display . . ." "On display? I eventually had to go down to the cellar to find them." "That's the display department." "With a torch." "Ah, well the lights had probably gone." "So had the stairs." "But look, you found the notice, didn't you?" "Yes," said Arthur, "yes I did. It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying Beware of the Leopard." -Chapter One, H2G2 |

I've been preoccupied with the Perseids today, but I also feel a good chance for some big flares coming (Maybe today). I've also noted the line-up of southern ARs near the equator coming soon. I think the next 3 or 4 rotations will flip the fields completely. As I already noted, this may coincide with the passing (or destruction) of Comet ISON. Although we've seen a weak cycle so far, this is a most interesting time to be alive and a witness to it all, eh? God bless you, friend and please don't let Detroit auction you off! Peace, NINz. |
