Anonymous Coward User ID: 1431203 United States 08/09/2011 12:39 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Wow thanks I was finally on the thread when the flare went off and watched on the noaa link. Cool. Thanks for the pics too. I love this thread. Quoting: finleyHey Finley....if you get a chance to go star gazing tonight watch for meteors. I've seen a couple good ones just a few minutes ago. Bigger than your average "shooting star"....and they are leaving long streaks across the sky. I saw one last night...and three tonight. I think it was the 10th-13th that the show is supposed to be the best for viewing?? But looks like tonight there's a preview. 12th and 13th but some have been reported being seen from July 24th and all the way till Aug 26th :) there awesome to lay out and watch were going to camp out in the yard for them this year Nice. Think I'll pick a night and drive out to the desert....which really is just "out back"....lol....it's Vegas, whadaya expect. But you've got to get away from the city lights ya know? |

I check your thread daily...just usually in a big yank because of work. I rarely miss a day checking out what is happening. I'm really grateful for this thread with it's no-nonsense approach. No over the edge doom, unless necessary - yet no ignoring the facts. Here is your EQ from the flare: MAP 4.9 2011/08/09 04:43:39 -4.559 102.147 57.4 SOUTHERN SUMATRA, INDONESIA I believe that was centered right in the midst of the orange area on the map. Notice the time. I'm not sure of the time that is given to a flare, but it started about 3:50 UTC and is just now coming back to the level it was prior to the flare, about 5:00 UTC. How was that EQ for timing? Kindness is in our power, even when fondness is not. --Samuel Johnson |

Ever since the Hawthorne swarm started up last year, seems Nevada has become a lot more active. I think a 5.0 to a 7.0 will eventually settle things down. |
