AR1967 & 1968 (AIA171)-

NOAA Solar Activity .24 hr Summary...

Solar activity reached high levels with a total of seven M-class flares
observed from both Regions 1967 (S13E01, Fkc/beta-gamma-delta) and 1968
(N10E03, Ekc/beta-gamma). Region 1967 produced for all but two of them,
including the largest, an M4/1b at 0931 UTC as well an M3 at 02/1811 UTC

which was associated with a Tenflare (180 sfu) at 02/1809 UTC. This
region grew, with multiple deltas along its trailing and intermediate
spots and a southeast-northwest orientation
. Region 1968s intermediate
and trailing spots grew. Three coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were
observed in SOHO/LASCO C2 imagery, including one to the west at 0712
UTC, one to the southwest at 0912 UTC and another to the southwest at
1936 UTC. The first CME to the southwest appears be correlated with a
backsided filament eruption seen in STEREO A EUVI 195 imagery beginning
at 02/0825 UTC
. The remaining CMEs do not appear to be Earth-directed.
New Region 1970 (S18E54, Dao/beta) was numbered today.

Solar Wind

.24 hr Summary...
Solar wind speed at ACE reached 426 km/s at 02/1515Z. Total IMF reached
6 nT at 02/1522Z. The maximum southward component of Bz reached -5 nT at
02/0309Z. At the end of the period, EPAM measurements indicated a rise
in the low energy particles suggesting the approach of the CME from 30
January was imminent.

.Forecast...
Nominal solar wind conditions are expected on day 1 (03 Feb). Reanalysis
of coronagraph imagery from 31 Jan suggests there is a chance for a weak
passage from the 31 Jan coronal mass ejection from Region 1968 on Day 2
(04 Feb). This would bring more turbulent solar wind conditions.
Day 3
(05 Feb) is expected to see a nominal solar wind environment.

Re: SOLAR WATCH * 312 M & 25 X FLARES starting 3-7-2011 (Updated Daily)
The M3.1 produced a brief tenflare-

Space Weather Message Code: SUM10R
Serial Number: 608
Issue Time: 2014 Feb 02 1825 UTC

SUMMARY: 10cm Radio Burst
Begin Time: 2014 Feb 02 1809 UTC
Maximum Time: 2014 Feb 02 1809 UTC
End Time: 2014 Feb 02 1810 UTC
Duration: 1 minutes

Peak Flux: 180 sfu
Latest Penticton Noon Flux: 177 sfu
Description: A 10cm radio burst indicates that the electromagnetic burst associated with a solar flare at the 10cm wavelength was double or greater than the initial 10cm radio background. This can be indicative of significant radio noise in association with a solar flare. This noise is generally short-lived but can cause interference for sensitive receivers including radar, GPS, and satellite communications.

Another big, fast CME seems to have disappeared into hyperspace before reaching Earth.

Maybe it's just running late. A recent spike in the ACE low-energy protons still gives me some hope.

I sent him an email to know what's meaning this area in his comments, just we have to wait the answer, but I'm almost sure that the first is from SWPC/NOAA and the second (his comments) is what he has measured.

Thank you Solar V : )

Yes,I was also thinking that the Solen listed comments are those of Monsignor Solen - We await his response hf

This is the answer I received from Mr. Jan Alvestad

"Diego,

when an area is mentioned in the comments column, it is a comment related to the SWPC area and is based on measurements in the SDO image. There is no comment on area if the SWPC value is close to what I observe or if I haven't measured it. Additionally, when SWPC has no spots, the SDO area moves to the area column."

This only means one thing, "Mr. Alvestad if it does the job as it should be"

Sup' Shads!

; )

1968 already did, allow me to quotage Solen Comments - 'beta-gamma-delta

area: 0500

location: N10E18
Region 11968 [N10E18] developed significantly in the trailing and central spot sections. A magnetic delta structure is visible at the northern tip of the largest trailing spot. A minor M class flare is possible'

[link to www.solen.info]

Choice between SWPC/NOAA and Solen...I choose Solen,every-time!

Besides,obvious Delta is 0bvious : )

Sure is and still going!

A clear Double Ribbon Flare now visible and,if you look closely just to the North-East of 1968 you can see a minor Flare-up from a un-numbered Plage Region [link to halpha.nso.edu]
