These two events are very likely connected. Old Sol is winding up the mag-fields again. 2093 is getting into an Earth-facing position soon so we need to watch it closely. [link to halpha.nso.edu] Still no coronagraph data available on the CME yet. Waiting for SOHO to update. SOHO latest C2 image: [link to sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov] |

My browser is too obsolete to use the newer codec on SDO and helioviewer. It sure appears to be somewhat Earth-directed. Filament ejections have been know to cause very strong geomagnetic storms....if the polarity is just right. SOHO beginning to update now....halo CME evident. [link to sohodata.nascom.nasa.gov] |

But we can't see what's coming straight out in front. My gut tells we're gonna get hit with this one. More to come as the data trickles in.... Latest SOHO C3 looks like 3 different clouds of plasma. Possibly a simultaneous far-side event is involved. [link to sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov] |

The eruption was visible on SDO AIA/304 and 193 imagery and appeared directed mostly eastward. SOHO/LASCO coronagraph imagery are just beginning to trickle in. A partial halo CME is visible in the east at 19/1924 UTC with an approximate plane of sky speed of 387 km/s. A coarse analysis incorporating a few STEREO coronagraph images suggests the ejecta is moving closer to 600 km/s. More rigorous analysis will be accomplished as coronagraph imagery is received. ...The forecast will be updated as analysis and prognosis of the CME described above is completed. |

Simple27 User ID: 57832527 United States 06/19/2014 11:30 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | NASA considers sending quadcopter drone to look for life on Titan While one NASA probe whizzes by Saturn’s moon Titan on Thursday to analyze its atmosphere, the American space agency is also considering a plan to send a quadcopter drone capable of searching for life. The ambitious idea was outlined by Larry Matthies, a research scientist and supervisor at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab in California, and involves a drone that would be capable of flying out of a lander or balloon. The drone would explore the moon’s landscape and seas, collect samples, and return to the “mothership” in order to recharge its batteries and submit whatever it collects for analysis.
