GoodMorning all^^,

:SunTodayJan72012:

The new region 1394 [N18E43] emerged in the northeast quadrant on January 5 and got an SWPC number the next day

Our largest region which is 1389 showed little change during the last 24 hours.

There is a new Region on the northeast limb rotating into view soon.

We noticed also some significant change at Region 1393 in the last hours.

A nice image from the Dutch Observatory shows us the Prominence on the east limb is still there

Solar activity was quiet yesterday and till now
[link to www.tesis.lebedev.ru]

This morning Region 1392 produced a C2 solar flare, peaking at 00:09UT and Region 1389 produced a C1 solar flare peaking at 04:53UT

SIDC - RWC BELGIUM 07 Jan 2012, 1208UT

NOAA regions 11390, 11392, 11388 and 11389 have each produced a low C flare in the last 24 hours. The brightest flare was released by NOAA AR 1392 and had a GOES X-ray flux peak value of C2.6 around 00:09 UT on January 7. More C flares are expected in the next 24 hour period. After the arrival on Janury 6 of the expected Coronal Hole high speed stream, ACE has measured solar wind velocities between 400 and 450 km/s in the last 24 hours, with the IMF around 5 nT. Geomagnetic conditions have been quiet in this period, and are expected to be quiet with a chance of active periods on January 7. Quiet conditions are likely on January 8. On January 9, a glancing blow is possible from the CME first observed by COR2 A on January 5, 14:24 UT, in which case active geomagnetic levels are expected.

Significant precursor signal detected on 1/7/2012 at 1948utc/1448est. Possible 6+.

Radio Direction Finder has signal coming in East of France from somewhere out in the Northern, Mid to Southern portions of the Pacific plate to Alaska, Canada and Chile.

Most likely candidates for this 6+ quake being Japan or Chile.

Hi everyone. Could someone please check this and see if you are seeing it outdated too please. It is the cme Enlil animation. I see the dates from 12-25 thru 1-1. Maybe I am just not seeing the proper button or link or whatever to see an up to date animation. This happened to me on the previous update too. It was outdated by about a week before I saw an updated animation. Please let me know if you see it, as I do or if you see an updated version. Thanks so much!!

Solar activity has been at low levels for the past 24

Region 1392 (S24W73). Region 1392 and 1393 (N16W30) both showed
growth in areal coverage and magnetic complexity. A CME was observed
in LASCO C2 imagery around 06/2125Z. After analysis,
this CME appears to a farsided event, thus not Earth directed.

Active Region 1393 is growing rapidly and produced a C1.3 flare earlier. Expect increased activity here.

Also we have a large new region (1395?) in the NE.

Lots of activity on the western limb today, too.

To all the researchers on Solar Watch..Nin, IWTB,Hugh,Aether,everyone...
I recently read an article that was a link off of an other thread that stated we had "holes" or "tears" in the magnetic sheild around the planet. I didn't have time to save it, due to the precarious nature of my generator powered system, but I can't find it now to ask you guys if this is for real or not. Has anyone heard about this? Could this be a contributing factor in the strange weather everyone is having?

hey OG :)
yes it has tears and holes
there are places of anomalies and each time we send a craft out into space, it has to tear through to get into space. these holes that are created varie in size and sometimes take months to heal back up
same thing happens when they return to earth :/
i will have to dig up some material on this after dinner
if anyone else has some links to this it would be helpfull :)

Re: SOLAR WATCH * 312 M & 25 X FLARES starting 3-7-2011 (Updated Daily)
Lockheed/Solarsoft is showing the C4.9 from 1386-which is well beyond the western limb. I think this is the biggest flare of 2012 so far.

The following C2.9 is from region 1393.........

SOHO Cor2 shows a nice CME in SE. Since it's on the wrong side of the sun from the flare, there must be something else happening simultaneously.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I have 2 NASA press releases about "cracks" and a "giant breach" in Earth's magnetic shield.

You may want to google the THEMIS mission which made the discoveries.

The large CME appears to me to be from a filament eruption beyond the east limb and not Earth-facing.

Not sure yet, but I believe the latest C1.2 flare is from 1393 again. This region is blooming like a mushroom and I wouldn't be surprised to see an M or X-flare soon.

Ok im sry this time LMSAL seems to be right...we was on this nearly in lifetime and the image from SDO AIA deceived me, anyway SolarWatch was again earlier than other sources...^^

Sunspots Today

Region 1393 grows again from yesterday till now and increased from 30 to 100 millionths

This region increased also in magnetic complexity as it gets Flux

Region 1394 decayed losing the trailing spots

The largest group so far is still region 1391 at 370 millionths and it decayed slightly

We updated also the Event from the early morning or night(Farside CME)

Uploaded a Vid which shows the CME was another farside Event

A recurrent coronal hole (CH492) in the southern hemisphere will likely rotated into an Earth facing position on January 8-10

Weak effects from CH492 could cause a few unsettled intervals on January 11-13
