It makes sense that 1401 is feeding 1402 energy. Kind of symbiotic and odd.

However, seems like one of them is fizzling out. seems like the x-ray flux it starting to top off very slowly. But then again, I thought the same on the 23rd.

What strikes me odd about 1402 is how far north of the equator it is for such a large region. Looks like another slow roller-coaster ride. Here's a loop from one of the GONG Network scopes in Udaipur.

Another proton storm would be bad news for satellites, LOL.

Hey, NiN...just wanted to pop in quick to say welcome back (I know I'm a little late with that!) before you all get busy again. Thanks everyone for keeping us informed. I'm pretty sure I'm never going to understand all of this, but I'm really glad you guys do! AND...you explain it for people like me! Hope you're doing better.

STEREO Ahead has a new image. I think this one is too north directed to be a threat to Earth, but it's quite large so we may see some geo-effects. Too soon to tell. It's a real beauty!

My pleasure, J O G! I like the Earth-based GONG telescopes for watching filaments. Usually at least one of their scopes is updating every 1-5 minutes, so it's where I like to start to see what's going on. The space-based imagers are fantastic but take awhile to downlink the data.

im running through data, see no signs of a proton storm
the CME looks to be a bit to far Northwest to be geoeffective
but looking at some recent images, i might retract that in the morning
a bit to hard to tell just yet
we just might get a glancing blow
ill update in the morning as to what i find
its almost 3am here and im still getting over the flu

Some beautiful images of the magnetic loops all lit up from that third wave of flaring. I think this is causing the LDE shape to the X-ray flux. Those are damn big loops! They may re-fire again too.

Hi, gogo! That scope is not online right now, only the one(s) with the green numbers are active. I think that last shot was taken as the sun went out of view or the dome was in the way. The GONG scopes are scattered around the globe so we can have 24-hour coverage of the sun, weather permitting.
