H-alpha movie loop of M-flare from Udaipur Observatory:

Slow it down for better view-

Now to wait and see if have another CME bullseye.

That is fantastic. I love these GONG H Alpha images. What I wouldn't give to own that telescope. The slideshow images always remind me of an early embryonic development.

Side bets on a CME or not? I say yes!
 Quoting: tomasgod1

I love the idea behind the GONG network. Usually, they update once-a-minute not every 7-9 hours like SOHO, haha. Some of first astronomical experience as a child was looking at the sun through a large telescope. On those school trips to the science museum (Franklin Institute in Philly); there were no stars or planets in the daytime so they always had us look at sunspots. GONG reminds me of those.

Oh, and besides being fast, it's the best place to keep track of filaments.

I can't wager with you as I, too, feel a CME is probable w/ a flare of this size. May be a small one or may be a big one.

This M6.3 flare shows up great on EVE SAM. Sunspot Region 1429.

evemar9

A CME from this Region now would be directly earth facing. We will be looking for the first signs of a eruption from around the solar disk.

The M6.3 S/F started at 03:22UT and peaked at 03:53UT. Stereo A C2 is updated through 3:54 at this point. It takes generally around an hour after the flare for it to be seen ejecting from around the disk. We should know within the hour if there was a CME with this S/F.

We cant see it on a graph but I will be happy to walk you through an easy way to see it from the Stereo C2 telescopes.

Click the link below..
[link to stereo-ssc.nascom.nasa.gov]

In the box that says "Telescope"

choose Stereo A COR2

under "Display" choose slideshow for movie, or "images" for a lot of images.

under "Resolution" choose 512

enter start and end date in this format,

start
20120308

end
20120309

press the search button.
