Straight climb at M1.2 right now;

However AR1432 may be more interesting Hugh .... lol

Ha,ha, Y'know EVE takes about 15 mins to update and downlink data. Here's a movie of the M2.8 from Cerro Tololo Observatory in Peru.

AR1432 is right at the NW edge of that coronal hole. SDO composite image:

The giant flash seen in the b&w movie may be related to a CME We'll have to wait awhile on that. I told you things didn't look good for that comet, LOL.

No, it's a valuable tool, just be aware of the time-stamp. EVE is very helpful, especially when many active regions are acting-up. And thanks for all your efforts.

SOHO hasn't updated for 5 hours; so we may be missing the sungrazer comet and potential CME. While waiting for updates, check out this detail chromosphere image of 1429 (explanation is under pic).

[link to apod.nasa.gov]

What amazes me is that filament at the north edge of 1429 hasn't budged;even with all of those M and X-flares and CMEs. The magnetic fields must be very extreme there.

With all due respect Nin, I thought he made a very valid and pertinant comment there.
Can you imagine how much invaluable astronomical information was burned by the spanish in south america or lost in the Library of Alexandria fire? Or for that matter what is hidden away beneath the vatican. Thousands of years of historical observations, wisdom and knowledge unavailable to our generation......we are truly living in another dark age just because of a few shortsighted, greedy psycopathic rulers.

Re: SOLAR WATCH * 312 M & 25 X FLARES starting 3-7-2011 (Updated Daily)
From the Solar Influences Data center (SIDC):

COMMENT: Solar activity is expected to remain at active levels with a
risk of an isolated M class flare from NOAA AR 1429. C flares are likely
from ARs 1432 and 1433, with a small risk of M class flare from NOAA
AR1433. A M7.9 flare occurred on March 13th in NOAA AR 1429, peaking at
1741 UT. It is associated with a mild proton event still in progress for
>10MeV protons. A fast CME (>1400 km/s) was observed. It is expected
that the bulk of the CME will not encountered the Earth, and therefore
that geomagnetic effects should be minimum.
If any, they should be
observed by the end of March 15th. In addition a coronal hole is
expected to become geoeffective by that time, triggering isolated minor
storm conditions
. Geomagnetic activity is therefore expected to reach
minor storm level by the end of March 15th, or during the course of
March 16th.

Sungrazer comet can be seen on recent STEREO Behind images:

[link to stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov]

AR1432 looks to be still forming; and with a surprising M2.8, we better watch its development closely....could turn into another behemoth.

EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE. CATCHES FIRE IF EXPOSED TO AIR. CAUSES SEVERE DIGESTIVE TRACT
BURNS. CAUSES EYE BURNS. CAUSES SKIN BURNS. DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS MAY CAUSE
EYE, NOSE AND RESPIRATORY TRACT IRRITATION. See sections 3, 5, & 6.

11. TOXICITY INFORMATION
Components
Trimethylaluminum (CH3)3 Al:
Pyrophoric. Spontaneously flammable in air and moisture. Causes severe eye and skin burns. Aluminum
oxide can be generated during combustion which can cause pulmonary (lung) fibrosis if inhaled over
prolonged periods. If metal oxide particles are formed, exposure to these can cause -metal fume fever-. Metal
fume fever is an influenza-like condition characterized by sweet or foul taste in the mouth, upper respiratory
tract irritation, coughing and a feeling of malaise. Fever chills, muscular pain, headache, nausea and diarrhea
may occur, also. Onset of symptoms can be delayed 4 - 12 hours and usually subside within 24 - 36 hours
after exposure ceases.
