[link to cr0.izmiran.rssi.ru] It shows two spikes in early March from the X-flare proton events (cosmic rays from the Sun). Then we see a "Forbush decrease" around the time the CMEs reached us. As the AR1429 rotated away from Earth we see a gradual increase in Galactic Cosmic Rays (in fact, you can see the cycle of day and night). I wish there were better explanations of these charts for interpretation; however the best I've found is the U of Del.site: [link to neutronm.bartol.udel.edu] "There is more stupidity than hydrogen in the universe, and it has a longer shelf life." A solar maximum is a period of increased activity on the Sun, and minimum-to-maximum-to-minimum cycles generally last 11 years each. Solar activity began to pick up in 2010, is steadily increasing and should peak in late 2014. As the Sun becomes more active, Mlynczak said, it emits more ultraviolet radiation and produces more solar flares - coronal mass ejections (CMEs) - which are absorbed in the atmosphere. Hugh .... this is what I need to know about ... please I need to know..... if you have ant insight, please. Looks like a good-sized bolide (fireball meteor) to me. Happens all the time, tho few are caught on video. I was thinking maybe the reported "big-boom" heard in the Pocono Mtns. recently may have been a meteor also, but the weathermen claim it was thunder. | Anonymous Coward User ID: 13079166 04/03/2012 06:15 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | NICT... RIP...J/K Saw a bolide when I was a kid. It was summer, not long after dark so lots of people saw it. It was big and slow... don't remember the tail so much, but the disk itself was well defined, glowing red, as big as a nickel held at arms length. No flash in the pan, spark and dazzle of a normal meteor, this one went on forever. I spotted it about 30 degrees above the horizon. From then until it disappeared behind trees on the opposite horizon took 5 or 6 seconds. Reports were all over the news, people calling TV and radio stations wondering what it was. Since I was in 5th grade at the time and had taken science classes and had seen it with my own eyes, I knew it was a meteor. Others conjectured aloud, for weeks on end, that it was an alien spaceship invading planet Earth, doom was at hand, the end times were near. Kinda sound familiar... [link to www.youtube.com] -- |

| nerdrage88sasr User ID: 11543404 04/03/2012 11:02 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | INFO FROM SIDC - RWC BELGIUM 03 Apr 2012, 1119UT Solar flaring activity remains low with only B-class flares in the past day, mainly originating from NOAA AR 11451 (no Catania number yet). NOAA AR 11450 is growing and showing more sunspots and some polarity mixing. An isolated C-class flare is possible from this region. Geomagnetic conditions remain quiet. Unsettled conditions are possible tomorrow when the high speed wind stream from a small coronal hole is expected to arrive. A slow CME was observed in the STEREO/COR2 data around 01:24 UT (STEREO-A) yesterday morning. This CME is directed northwards. A glancing blow (if any) from this CME could arrive on April 6.
