When there is an ejection from the sun equator at 0 degree meridian and lasco sats show a full halo CME you can bet it will hit the Msphere. the farther from that point the less likely to hit us, from my observations anyway. because of the sun spin, parker spiral effect, post and prior winds and other factors it seems the science of prediciting CME direction is still not very reliable..
Hence the G2 storm we are experiencing now with absolutely no warning from the "scientists"..
By the time the CME hits us I don't believe it can be captured on film, we just see the effects on NICT and ACE, etc..
