you can see there was a CME to the left side

There sure was! And with the image being that dark, it may have been a big one.

i was thinking the same exact thing!
now if we can just a look at STEREO B and SOHO
looks like the CME was earth directed, but so hard to be sure without seeing more :/

do you guys think it may have been that filament lifting off?

Here is the Nobyama Microwave Telescope from Japan.

At least this one is going as long as it can see the sun (earth based telescope).

I can see there was a flare around region 1187 this morning at 2011-04-11 at 3:10 UTC. From these images you can see that at least some of the large filament is still there.

I was watching the wind and density slowly pick up.

Speaking of which. My weather radio keeps blaring on every few minutes with severe thunderstorm, and now tornado warnings from all around. As I am typing they blared in again and decided to issue a "tornado watch"...good idea!...DURRRR

I love them too! As long as they don't tear my house or car up.. or kill any of us. They just issued a tornado warning for Dallas County.

the magnetosphere is definitely heating up. what cme would be hitting right now? the cme from the 8th?

It is the CME from the 7th.

But why an earthquake there being related to the CME?
They are to be expected in Japan at the moment..

Because it is looking more and more as if there is a strong correlation between CMEs and Earthquakes, including the ones in Japan. This thread is full of documentation if you are interested.

Can cme's cause electrical storms.. coz we have a big one hitting the sunny coast right now..

Well I have got a couple of hours left to sleep. We had extremely severe storms roll through. Had a tornado pass just to the south, and another doppler radar indicated low level rotation that went right over our area. There is storm damage all around. It must have rained at least 3 or 4 inches over the past 3 hours, and it's still raining.. Winds in the area gusted to 90 miles per hr. My adrenaline rush has run it's course, and the sirens have stopped blaring...so of to dream land I go.

Do you think CMEs seem to have more effect on ground that is already shaky??

Wow.. my husband and I too were extremely tired and lethargic all day.. couldnt seem to get motivated to do anything..

Wonder if there is a correlation..

The Japanese tectonic event is unlike most earthquakes of its size when it comes to both the number and the 'size' of the aftershocks.

Most of the big quakes of the last 6-7 years (siz 8.0+) have between 60-300 aftershock earthquakes.

The Japanese quake, has had over 1000 aftershock earthquakes so far, and they are still happening every single day. This is NOT considered 'normal' by any stretch of the imagination.

The Sun has been very active over the same time period of these Japanese quakes, so looking for a connection would seem quite logical.

First of all...Amazing thread, been following ever since the japan quake, and absorbing all the info that my limited brain can...eheh

Second while looking at the new images from Stereo COR2 i came across with this:

Seems like it was being hit with something... (CME, dust from some comet/asteroid?) what do you guys say?Have you ever seen anything like it?

I'm just thinking out loud and don't know if anything has been talked about on this as I'm a newbie but, is there something in the Earth/Core under or around Japan that could be attracting the CMEs from the sun magnetically as there has been some talk on here about being a magnetic connection between the Earth & the Sun recently. Sorry if I sound dumb but all these CMEs seem to be hitting that side of the Earth, Ive not heard anything mentioned about a big CME going to hit the UK for instance, Why over there and not here. Why are they mostly heading towards that section of the earth?? If their is a connection between the Earth & the Sun, could there be a connection point magnetically around Japan that could be drawing the big CMEs there, this causing the big quakes??
