it is more than likely a glitch in the process that SOHO goes through in order to get the photos that we see
If this was indeed an anomaly near or on the sun, then we would be seeing it on all photos from LASCO C2, C3 STEREO A and B as well as on SDO.. and we are not
I'm sure now that the holiday weekend is over, they will get to fixing the issue that SOHO is having

This News from Space weather..."There is one thing not visible in the photo: the sunspot's magnetic field. Space-based magnetographs reveal a 'beta-gamma' configuration that harbors energy for M-class solar flares. Earth-directed eruptions are possible before the weekend is over. Stay tuned"

that was a biggie, but the one J saw was earlier I believe.. the pic of the week has a good vid of lots of backside CMEs last week. We have been very lucky..


A series of coronal mass ejections erupted in just a 24 hour period (Apr. 14-15, 2011) as STEREO's (Ahead) spacecraft caught the action. None of these blasts were headed towards Earth since their sources were from active regions on the side of the Sun away from Earth. With a view of the entire Sun between STEREO's twin spacecraft and Solar Dynamics Observatory, we don?t miss any activity anymore.

I have been reading your thread here for a while. Thanks for posting this! It is very interesting to read.
I'll have to say reading other threads about the sun right now, etc, is a little scary, so I come here. I am glad to hear you're insight into this, NiNzrez. It, at least, puts my mind at ease somewhat!

there is a lot of doom talk when it comes to the sun
i do believe doom can indeed come from the sun
but it's a mater of recognizing real doom threats over freaking out when someone see's something they do not know what it is
I wil for sure post if i see anything at all that freaks me out ^^

The Sun seems to be humming along without anything to write home about....and it looks like the "Chimps" are back in the control room.

A magnetosphere and a plasmasphere are in fact two distinct phenomena.

The magnetic field is not caused by the charge difference but a plasmasphere definitely is. Charge equalisation between a planet and the surrounding plasma would entail the disappearance of the double layer that defines the plasmasphere but would not necessarily reduce the magnetic field.

The form of the plasmasphere is determined by the conductivity and charge of the solar atmosphere in which all the planets orbit.

The entry into the solar system of highly charged, magnetised, dusty plasma from the 'local fluff' plasma cloud continues to alter the constitution of the solar atmosphere, making it considerably more conductive and densely charged.

This implies that the plasmasphere around Venus that normaly nearly reaches the Earth when Venus transits the sun may well reach the plasmasphere of Earth when Venus next transits in 2012.

Possible interplanetary discharges.

There is not much well substantiated theory to account for the existence and behaviour of a planetary magnetosphere.

Mainstream propose a dynamo effect in a liquid iron core which is pure conjecture. This conjecture has fuelled the creation of a computer simulation by Gary Glatzmaier and Paul Roberts. They have created the ‘geodynamo’ that creates a self-sustaining magnetic field.

That a current exists cannot be contested as all magnetic fields require attendant current flows to sustain them.

Mars, among others, has a rather amorphous magnetic field which is explained by mainstream in terms of residual magnetic fields in certain strata in the planet's crust.

You guys are observing the evidence that shows mainstream theory wrong.

We're getting smacked silly by this stuff. It will be interesting to listen to the reports of physical ailments, etc as soon as they hit.

FAST GROWING SUNSPOT: New sunspot 1199 is growing rapidly in the sun's northern hemisphere, ballooning in area by more than a factor of five during the last 24 hours.

Anyone think these anomolies can be linked to the suns energy or the solar activity recently?

That backside flare looks like it was a good one. Interesting how many of those there have been. I wonder if this area of the sun will continue to be as active as we rotate around there this summer?

Up to 70+now. Several tornadic storms producing multiple tornados train rolled through the county next to mine yesterday doing a lot of damage but killing no one.

Everything is interconnected.
