My son is going on a 3 day school camping trip tomorrow and I would really like to know if I need him to take any extra precautions sun wise.. very fair skin ..

Also as a side note.. as I write this it is 11.23pm tueday night australian eastern time.. and that strange rumbling in the sky started and is still going.. maybe a full 8-10 mins so far.. so not a plane.. not a train.. just thought I would share fyi..

And the map that was shown as 'proof' of the pole shift on here, was really not.

It's a crock of shit, really. It just shows (in the most basic terms I can) the overflow.. or more precisely minute electromagnetic disturbances in the ionosphere from the geomagnetic storm that is ongoing.

If you notice the position of both the north and south magnetic poles, you will notice that the shortest distance between them goes through australia which means the magnetic field lines are slightly denser above australia and perfect conduits for small amounts of particles or electrical overflow to run along, this is why near the bottom of that map it showed a peak (where more of the flow was heading in comparison to surronding areas). (by the way the scale is so small on that map that it is pretty much showing nothing).

Not going to go into that anymore, now about nict.

Yes I have seen that before (before I gave up on nict since it is.. how to put it.. shit). And If i remember correctly the simulation produces them when shifting magnetics from north to south a lot under moderate/high velocities (high velocity is actually generall above 1000 km/s personally).

You should be able to see them when the magnetic field line simulation on the top left, the simulator then proceeds to leak solar wind off of the outer frontal magnetic line and out over the 'corners' or 'curves' at the top and bottom and when combined witht he incoming the simulator bounces some solar wind back out from the corner points on these, and sometimes just bounces it off of the frontal magnetic field line.. most of the time it is irregular because nict also uses the angluar magnetic data value from ace.

But realistically nict isn't showing anything at all like what is actually happening, and you shouldn't pay much attention to it... It's just pretty colours.

i just checked it and wow, what a mess of speculation and paranoia.. the Msphere has been hit the last few days by a coronal hole high speed stream, CH HSS, and suffered some variations/anomolies but nothing it can't handle imo. it will be back as good as new soon. there is a cme "possibly partially" Earth directed coming in 2 days but the CH HSS should subside by then so the combination effect should not be bad either..

All that said the only thing your son should prevent is sunburn and that is any sunblock 30 or up, 30 is the same as 100 really. just put more on after sweating or getting wet..

Ninz...Seeker here....how are things on the solar front? I am thinking the right cocktail for New Madrid is in the works...Got the Liquefacation part down, just need a sufficient jolt from the sun to kick it into high gear...So whats happening?
