Towards the end there was a crazy leap in intensity, like the CME's just hit us.

WOW...That's intense! Good find!

Looks like things are relatively calm-ish for the moment. Or at least compared to around 18 hours ago.

Still a good chance of some interesting activity, and it wouldn't surprise me if it came sooner rather than later.

Ditto! Very impressive...even showed my kids this one and they were also aw'ed by it (they also couldn't believe that blue dot was Earth ;-).

i was just looking on SDO and saw that
its small and from the far southwestern region of the sun
we can see it a bit on STEREO A

as far as quake activity and these CMEs
we have been talking some over the last few days about the Japan event
what we saw before japan was a lot of similar sun activity as we have been seeing over the last week
with japan, the solar activity

the Global D absorbtion map had turned red in the polar regions and we talked about that on the quite a bit, here is us talking about this on March 10th

so far, all the solar events over this week have mirrored what we saw in the days just prior to the March 11th Japan event

Today we have sunspot region 1263 with it's eastern edge growing through the day
1263 currently has a 66% chance for a X flare and a 63% chance for a M flare

Is it strange to have many x class solar events? I haven't followed the sun for an age. It is hot here in Clearlake, in CA. The temp isn't high but the sun is sweltering!

I would like to know if this unseasonable weather is due to the solar activity.

Just read through some of those posts from the 8th to the 10th....

definitely some strong similarities. A little spooky to say the least.

Watching the next couple of days closely.

i can say, that over this last winter, it would be -12F out with snow and ice everywhere
and when the sun came out from behind the clouds, the rays would melt the snow and ice
when it was STILL -12f out
that just does not add up

yeah very odd and spooky
i guess the next few days will tell the story of just how similar

This is getting VERY interesting.
