Re: SOLAR WATCH * Huge X8.2 Flare Sept. 10, 2017! (Updated Daily)
we have a large filament just to the right of sunspot region 1271 that looks like its about to lift off
[link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov]
filaments are plasma, just like CME's
the effects of them hitting earth are the same
it would be earth directed

can anyone get the surrent earth sun proximity?
for me, it stopped updating on July 18th
not sure is it is just me... or for everyone?
[link to iswa.ccmc.gsfc.nasa.gov:8080]

maybe someone knows of another site that gives this same info?
 Quoting: NiNzrez

Hey NiN I am on the site now. I will see if I can get it. I just wanted to post some info for the people asking about the CME showing on the ENLIL wen app.

Here is that latest.

[link to iswa.ccmc.gsfc.nasa.gov:8080]

NASA no longer has an arrival time.

I had posted earlier that I thought that this was a small CME and that it would be charged - to + so I do not expect to see anything significant from it. Could be wrong though..hehe

That will do for know thanks for the update...i guess i will play the waiting game...patience is a virtue

Nope..it is stuck in July. No one else gives this information. This is a NASA program, that uses propriatary equipment not available to anyone else.

Re: SOLAR WATCH * Huge X8.2 Flare Sept. 10, 2017! (Updated Daily)
can we get back on track with the CME that is earth bound.....in a nutchell nasa said nothing new everything they said has been said before on this thread!

That being said. What is the speed and is it a significant cme that is earth bound and to be direct hit?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1247173

this! it is supposed to be hitting us right now yet no word about it on spaceweather or anything. wtf???bump
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1509642

i poised that Question yesterday and still no real definitive answer from this thread or any other solar website like solarham, artis, etc.....

something is up....someone please help us find the answers!

alone
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1247173

i don't understand why more people aren't asking this question. we have the animation and graphic to show it happened. or at least they say it did. was that just one big glitch or something? that seems like a very odd "glitch" to have this enormous cme directly hitting earth. i wish i could find SOME info on this. or anyone questioning it at all?
and it seemed odd to me, as interesting as it was, that at the nasa press briefing it was all about how we now can watch cmes from beginning to end. but NO mention of the one that is supposedly hitting right now?
i don't get it.
nothing is reporting anything happening at all.
it's as if that graphic never existed.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1509642

i have looked and looked and see no signs on SDO of any large CME headed our way
we would see it very clearly
i see a few filament lift offs some days back, but nothing that shows they would be geoeffective
they were to far north or off the edge of the sun
was anyone able to find something becides this simulation showing we have a cme headed this way that should hit today to tomorrow?

for the 15th i see no events as seen on stereo
i did however find this kinds cool photo with some artifacts on it
[link to stereo-ssc.nascom.nasa.gov]

here we can see a backside CME on the 16th
[link to stereo-ssc.nascom.nasa.gov]
and just after that event, while we still see it on stereo, we can see the northside filament that lifted off headed way north
[link to stereo-ssc.nascom.nasa.gov]

on the 17th we see a small cme aimed far north
[link to stereo-ssc.nascom.nasa.gov]
again, not earth directed

i used only photos from STEREO A because B is so dark right now that all images are not very good

here is the link for anyone who is wanting to search any paticular date of events on STEREO

well damn :/
i think it would be safe to say, that due to the filament being almost dead center, any lift off of mass would throw it our way, reguardless of the exact proximity of earth
that is unless it snaps in a far north direction
i will be watching this close today and update you if i see anything interesting

There was a small CME from Regiom 1273 on the 17th. I posted it here, two pages back, on page 230.

Hello, I'm a bit confused as to why the streamer is showing this

There was a flare with a CME from region 1273 at approx 5:43UT 8/17/2011
. This flare occured after GOES recording of the flare from Region 1272 at 4:29 UT recorded as a C2.3 and is incorporated in that reading. Region 1273 is located in the southern hemisphere of the solar disk and is Earth facing. Although this CME was relatively small it was Earth directed. Because of the location of Region 1273 I expect that this CME will arive charged + to - and will create less of a geomagnetic disturbance.Region 1273

Did you guys take a look at this? USGS admits Hydraulic fracturing can trigger large Earthquakes.

Excerpt;

As for "lubricating" faults with water or some other substance, injecting high pressure fluids deep into the ground is known to be able to trigger earthquakes to occur sooner than would have been the case without the injection. However this would be a dangerous pursuit in any populated area, as one might trigger a damaging earthquake.

Link to USGS site with article;

[link to earthquake.usgs.gov]

Remember all the drilling being done in Arkansas when they had those swarms of earthquakes? They stopped the drilling and the swarms stopped. They have the technology to make earthquakes occur sooner than they would normally have. Right there in black and white is USGS admitting this technology exist. Now this opens up a whole new Pandora's box.

Interesting, isn't it? I did not know that they had come out with that. I was aware that fracking caused smaller earthquakes. If the process can cause damaging ones as well that's not good. That was happening in an area just to the south of me. They kept having small Eq's in the 3 range over and over every couple of months. In N. Central TX...not usual at all. The speculation was because of the fracking going on with all the gas drilling in the area.

Fracking is a really dirty process anyway. The companys use all kinds of hazardous chemicals in the fluid and each company has it's own proprietary formula so no one knows exactly what chemicals they are using. Chemicals like the cancerous agent Benzene are just one of them. During this process rock is fractured to allow gas to escape but it also allows that natural gas and the fracking fluid to travel through cracks mixing into the water table, aquifers, peoples wells. HBO did a special last year and it showed people with well water able to turn their tap on and light the tap like a gas main, with water coming out at the same time, and much worse.

Re: SOLAR WATCH * Huge X8.2 Flare Sept. 10, 2017! (Updated Daily)
this was pointed out to me by a great bunch in a FB solar watch group i am a part of
[link to www2.nict.go.jp]
we see a spike
strange because nothing shows on the ACE data
but curious enough, here we see a big gab in data from the 15:00 mark to the 21:00 mark

I have seen these several times preceding a CME. I told myself the next time I saw it I would be sure not to be caught off guard. Incomming!

What I am referring to is the spike in the AL/AU nT and AO/AE nT. These spikes are usually followed by the arrival of a CME within several hours.

Thanks Tom for looking into this for us. Our group follows you all pretty close and we suggested Nin might want to ask you as well what you thought might've happened there.
