It is now widely accepted that Kuru was transmitted among members of the Fore tribe of Papua New Guinea via cannibalism.[3]

The cannabilism-kuru-CJD/BSE-prion connection was postulated by Gajdusek - who massaged his research in order to get the nobel prize for prions causing BSE etc etc. It was all bullshit research that the military to this day want kept OUT of the public domain. Prions are NOT the causal factor of BSE-type diseases, although they ARE present. Sorry for going off-topic.
