The IMF is in a north direction (positive) and the magnetosphere is protecting its self from solar winds and particles. This is good.

Image shows you new region 1290 which emerged yesterday at south15 east29 degrees as a simple C class type group. There is a large area of a number of groups that will rotate into view over the coming days.

Not my photos, but you could see Northern lights from **downtown** in Calgary last night. Pretty tare considering you normally need darkness out in a rural area to see them:

Today, sunspot 1289
has a 30% chance for a M flare
has a 16% chance for a X flare

1283 - is now on the western edge. Although 1283 still hold a chance for a M flare, it poses little threat

1289 - Now all eyes are on monster sunspot region 1289 as well as a very large region behind 1289 that will be rotation over the eastern limb in the next few days

Region 11289 added several spots in a new penumbra to the south of the large penumbra. The new penumbra could easily develop a magnetic delta structure
1289 has a beta-gamma configuration as of the time of this post

here we can see the sunspot region that is just over the eastern limb of the sun and will be rotating earths direction over the next few days

the big bright section in the middle top section is the region i speak of

lets comapre that region to 1283 that produced most of the main activity we have seen this past week

there was a large filament eruption off on the northern section of the solar disk today
"A large filament eruption was observed beginning at 00:59 UTC on September 10 in the central northern hemisphere. At 03:24 UTC STEREO-A observed a CME, mainly over the northern hemisphere. It's too early to tell if this CME will impact Earth
Minor update added at 10:55 UTC on September 10: The CME earlier today was at least partial halo. While the core of the CME will not reach Earth, there's a chance of a flank impact on September 13"

September 7: Lots of CMEs were observed during the day, most were backsided. The CME associated with the X1.8 event in region 11283 may cause a flank impact at Earth on September 10 resulting in a brief increase in disturbance levels

i have been trying to get all the updates in now since it is still a bit early in the day here in the states
Elenin perihelion coming up on us
JPL shows that it is tomorrow
but on the main Spaceobs site they have a countdown to exact time on there

according to lenoid elenin himself, exact perihelion is in about 36 min

i will go ahead and make a note here on this...
Elenin hitting perihelion is when it is at it's closest to the sun durring its passing in our solar system
looking on JPL as well as a few other orbital diagrams i have, Elenin will reach it's closest to the sun very close to being right above sunspot region 1289
here we can see where 1289 is

what effect this will have, if any, I'm not sure
but if we see a large Flare and/or CME, i will not be surprised at all

JPL has tomorrow Sept 11th listed as the closest approach
this countdown has right now listed
we do not have our own telescope to look for ourselvs
so who knows
i would say alert for this should remain now through the next 24hrs
it should happen sometime in that timeframe

There has got to be some kind of connection with this perihelion being on September 11th and The attacks on the Twin Tower on 9/11/2001. Something deep down inside tells me this. I don't like it!

Can you explain for us ignorant (me) what exactly is suppose to happen or what is expected to happen at 'perihelion'???
