NiNzrez (OP) User ID: 1135433 United States 09/10/2011 12:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | ok i went looking, and found this from a poster Today, just a couple of minutes ago, Elenin reached perihelion at 0.482 AU from te sun. You can check this by looking at the JPL browser and setting the period to 1 hour instead of 1 day. September 13th is the day Elenin crosses our solar system's ecliptic at a distance of 0.486 AU from the sun. You can check this by looking at the JPL browser and noticing the moment the dark blue line changes to light blue. [link to ssd.jpl.nasa.gov] here is thread i found this on Thread: *******50 mins to ELENIN perihelion******* (Page 2) i just looked and changed the orbital viewer to Hour, like the posted said to do and they are correct it has now reached the closest distance to the sun at 0.482 AU and will remain at this distance into early tomorrow Sept 11th also, on the bottom slide bar, slide this until you have moved "earth" onto the vertical yellow line going right down the middle now you can see where Elenin is in relation to earth as well as the sun Last Edited by NiNzrez on 09/10/2011 01:00 PM Join Me On The GLP SOLAR WATCH Thread Thread: SOLAR WATCH * Huge X8.2 Flare Sept. 10, 2017! fairflight User ID: 1071336 United States 09/10/2011 01:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I', not fooling you, every link i open no matter from where, if spaceobs it say now more than 6 hours, i have told you! WOW!!! That is very, very strange!!!! it now says 36min I'm just trying to see where you got 6hrs? i have not seen any other sites state the exact time of close approach I have been looking around trying to find something more solid, but just more confused. There is a video that uses NASA site to show perihelion and ecliptical, etc. That video is stating that the ecliptical has slowed down by 3 days. What is worrying is that that slow down puts the pass with Earth and Elenin even closer at that point...unless...it picks up speed before it crosses our orbit at it's closest point. "Man was also in the beginning with God. Intelligence, or the light of truth, was not created or made, neither indeed can be. ALL truth is independent in that sphere in which God has placed it, to act for itself." |

That is what I found too! I was a bit concerned when it shows that ecliptical has slowed down and will not be reached until Sept. 13 instaed of original estimate on the 11th. This would make it's closest pass with earth, even closer than previously believed...unless...at some point it regains that three days. Scary stuff!! NiNzrez (OP) User ID: 1135433 United States 09/10/2011 02:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Today, sunspot 1289 Quoting: NiNzrez has a 30% chance for a M flare has a 16% chance for a X flare [link to spaceweather.inf.brad.ac.uk] 1283 - is now on the western edge. Although 1283 still hold a chance for a M flare, it poses little threat 1289 - Now all eyes are on monster sunspot region 1289 as well as a very large region behind 1289 that will be rotation over the eastern limb in the next few days Region 11289 added several spots in a new penumbra to the south of the large penumbra. The new penumbra could easily develop a magnetic delta structure 1289 has a beta-gamma configuration as of the time of this post [link to www.solen.info] here is the latest SDO magnetogram image of the sun [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] on this composite we can see well the sunspot regions [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] here we can see the sunspot region that is just over the eastern limb of the sun and will be rotating earths direction over the next few days this is on STEREO Behind, an image taken of the left side of the sun, from earths view [link to stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov] the big bright section in the middle top section is the region i speak of here it is on the GONG Calibrated Farside Map [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] (the spot circled in red) lets comapre that region to 1283 that produced most of the main activity we have seen this past week 1283 is the bright spot on the top left section in this image [link to stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov] Join Me On The GLP SOLAR WATCH Thread Thread: SOLAR WATCH * Huge X8.2 Flare Sept. 10, 2017!
