Analysis of Solar Active Regions and Activity from 18/2100Z to 19/2100Z: Solar activity was low. Region 1296 (N26W05) produced a long duration C6 flare at 19/0737Z. Region 1301 (N20E63) produced a C6/Sn flare at 19/1541Z. SOHO LASCO imagery observed 4 CME limb events in the past 24 hours, none of which are expected to be geoeffective. Region 1295 remains a beta gamma magnetic configuration. [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] Region 11296 [N26W05] decayed slowly. Flares: C2.4 at 04:59, long duration C6.2 peaking at 07:37 (this event was associated with a partial halo CME with most of the ejected material observed off the eastern limbs) September 17-18: No obviously Earth directed CMEs observed. September 19: A partial halo CME was observed following an LDE in region 11296. There's a slight chance this CME could reach Earth on September 22 [link to www.solen.info] i will try to get on for a few tomorrow :) Feel better soon! Anonymous Coward User ID: 1297814 Germany 09/20/2011 06:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | :newsunspotssep20: There are still 7 groups visible, all groups are in decay except for region 1301 which is growing in spot count and size. Severn C class solar flares took place yesterday. The largest was two C6 flares from region 1301, the first was a long duration peaking at 0737z and the second peaking at 1541z. This morning a C9 took place peaking at 0513z from region 1294. Further C class solar flares are expected. There is still a chance of a M class but seems unlikely. There is a new group or groups about to rotate into view over the north-east limb during the next few days. Several coronal mass ejections took place yesterday. Images below from SOHO shows one of these CMEs :cmesep19: |
