They update the simulation with the latest CME. That CME was reall too far off the Eastern Limb to do anything. It just bounced/slid on by.

I had mentioned earlier that we may get a proton storm out of this.. a SEP event. It usually takes a while for them to develop. NiN did you see this..

On Lasco 3 at 2011-09-22 06.12 shows clear pics, on 13.25 a Flare...

Sunspot region #1295 gave us the M1 flare just before the X on the limb. I was wondering if there might be another CME but SOHO has gaps in imaging/data. I didn't see one on STEREO Ahead-so I think we're safe......for now lol.

This happen often?? I know I haven' seen it down in a long time.

Morning everyone.. and hugs to you Nin, so good to you see you posting mama sol xoxo miss you heaps.

I have a little bit of a predicament.. I am not one to normally be concerned with the GLP effect and the daily predictions of our members crazy uncles and cousins (lol) however, with old faithful coming round to face us in the next week and the chance of a massive Xflare coming out of the region, combined with the date that O.F is due to be earth facing, Im getting a little worried about this thread.. Thread: September 28, 2011, This is it. it doesnt seem like your average 'cousin/uncle' story and god knows ive lived by the motto "nothing is impossible" my whole life..

I thought i would seek out the opinion of the experts here in our little solar home..

Can someone please give me (and the others who read this thread who are not up on the solar understanding yet) a laymans rundown of what we would expect from a massive xflare and following cme..

What would occur in the 8mins it takes the flare to reach earth and what would a cme from a huge Xflare do to us.. could the earth really burn? could it really vaporise us? How far underground would we need to be in order to be safe if it could? What size Xflare would need to occur in order for the electrical grid to collapse? If you have seen the movie knowing, is that scenario possible?

And lastly, should the tomatoe plants come in? and im not kidding i have a deck full of heirloom tomatoes LOL

I am trying to approach this as sensibly as possible and actually get the facts from those of you who i respect and admire for your knowledge and wisdom. Thankyou in advance for the help .. love you guys..
