Sorry for the stupid question, but assuming that something bigger fired today, the effects of it will be felt in two days, right?
Quoting: Richard S. 577949 flares reach earth at the speed of light, and get here in around 8 minutes if there is a CME with the flare, it gets here in around 2-4 days usually, depending on the force of ejection, thus the speed it is then traveling to earth but there was NO major flare durring the Xray flux gap today it was a C5.6 Flare from sunspot region 1305 starting at 17:57 and ending at 18:28 [ link to www.lmsal.com] here is the image of the flare on SDO EVE [ link to lasp.colorado.edu] :)
