Wow, will that affect earth???

Oh my !!! I'm not seeing it as earth directed on [link to spaceweather.inf.brad.ac.uk]
However, I have come to the conclusion I'm chronically ignorant on such matters .........

seeing that picture reminds me of a question I had the
other day and forgot about :


Something like that happening on the earth side of the sun (but not even directly at earth) while the magnetosphere is
compressed from previous days CMEs would not be good huh??

I mean the 8 minute later effect that a big flare has on us, while a geo storm is already under way?

What amazes me is that when one of these huge sun spots spins in from the east limb "earth facing" they lose all their "umph".

I am beginning to believe ElQ in saying that it seems as if their is something, I can't begin to guess what, averting certain doom for us all.

Yes it makes ya wonder doesn`t it...It blasts out huge CME`s on both edges of the sun and behind but never directly in our face...Things that make ya go Hmmmmmmmmm...

Thank you Cisco, K+ for you....so, in this animation, if the flare points down to the bottom, it is earth directed?

Ever since early Sept the Sun has picked massively. A few threads on this and other forums have warned of this. The question that now needs to be answered, is this to be expected with Solar Max approaching OR is the Magnetic Fluff/Ribbon/Superwave spoken about so much by:

Even Nasa with the Ibex Discovery
and not to forget our own

Tynemouth lifeboat search after planet Jupiter mistaken for flare
A rescue search was carried out off the coast of Tynemouth Longsands after a member of the public mistook the planet Jupiter for a distress flare.

Tynemouth RNLI and an RAF Boulmer rescue helicopter were called out to search for a possible vessel in distress six miles from the coast.

However, after an extensive search, it was found that the informant had mistaken the planet Jupiter for flares [link to www.bbc.co.uk]

Which one is the latest one? The second one, because it is labeled 004 and the other one is 002? I was just wondering why they're so different?

The 1st image with all the spots looks just like a dream I had last week...

Ok, found it here... [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] So the image with the one big spot is the latest. I wonder if that's where the massive CME came from?
