First one is at 5 o'clock on the SOHO COR 2 image and the second one seem to have blasted off from the north polar region-it looks very unusual-like a corkscrew. Yessirree, Stereo A+B images show a very bright CME at the top and remnants of the earlier CME which was somewhat Earth-directed. Wow! Time will tell, but it looks more like a glancing blow for Earth. Awesome movie from Stereo Ahead: [link to stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov] Doom may be right around the corner though. Behind the large un-numbered spot on the northeast limb, there lurks an even bigger spot that's now right at horizon's edge and very hard to see. Zoom in on this hi-resolution HMI image.
