With these consecutive images I think you can see the Inner Magnetosphere Lines snap out and capture Energy from the Outer Shell and then re-coiling back with the Inner Magnetosphere loaded as a result..

Its' strange that the Velocity of the Solar Wind is relatively Low..There must have been a fair bit of Energy in this Event/s.
