Thank you It was 1342....still somewhat earth facing...not sure I`m the best to answer your question on the duration..But normally long duration flares have some CME with them [link to www.solarham.com] Last Edited by <<LOOK`n thru YOU>> on 11/09/2011 09:56 AM |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1297814 Germany 11/09/2011 11:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sunspot Update and some INFO Flare and new CME: First some Info Sidc: :m1.1flarenov9: M1.1 flare peaking at 13:35 UT was observed in the Catania sunspot group 34 (NOAA AR 1342) today. It was accompanied by a type II radio burst observed by Humain. PROBA2/SWAP detected associated filament eruption and coronal dimmings indicating the eruption of a CME. No SOHO/LASCO data is available at the moment of writing to confirm if the resulting CME was a halo. However, SECCHI/COR2 coronagraphs onboard STEREO spacecraft detected a bright and fast (more than 1000 km/s) CME that may be directed at the Earth. A geomagnetic storm may result in 2-3 days if the CME will eventually arrive at the Earth. [link to sidc.oma.be] Here we have a good sight at the CME: Stereo Behind Movie! If this is an example of a halo CME : [link to www.spaceweather.com] It's pretty impressive .... Well I've seen the "trailer" of today's flare ... can't wait to see the "movie" |
