SOLAR WATCH * Huge X8.2 Flare Sept. 10, 2017! (Updated Daily)

I'm not sure if this is both CMEs or just the first one. The second blast was extremely violent and very fast-you can already see two tendrils of plasma on the STEREO HI 1 imagers (Ahead and Behind).

I think so but not 100% sure. Most likely it is.

Generally with a CME Eruption this far off on the limb the effects on Earth are minimal if at all. Because of some recent suprises I am interested to see what if anything we get out of this. The plasma density seen on Stereo HI1 doesn't look very heavy but because of the speed this ICME is traveling I would expect to see a rather dramatic shock, with a sudden and significant increase in the Solar Wind Speed. Because of the location this CME erupted from I expect it to be oriented S to N increasing connectivity, further increasing the levels of storming even with low density.

sunspot groups 34 and 36, NOAA ARs 1342 and 1343 respectively) was
located around N25E35. The arrival of the CME-asssociated interplanetary
disturbance at the Earth is expected on November 12. Most probably only
the CME-driven shock will arrive at the Earth, although the arrival of
the ICME is not excluded. Depending on the orientation of the
interplanetary magnetic field in the post-shock sheath and in the
possible ICME, a geomagnetic disturbance (probably around K = 5 or 6)
may occur.

the plasma density looks like it's going to wack us pretty hard. Am I wrong in assuming radial velocity is the same as solar wind speed and measured in KMs ???

Still no update from ISWA..

Your assumption is correct. The top 3 plots represent Solar Wind Plasma Density, while the bottom plots represent Solar wind Speed.

Looks to hit around 12:00-13:00 CST
