I like malted milk balls that way, when they are stale, half hollow, and gooey! I once knew someone that liked Easter Peeps, but only after leaving them out untill they were so stale that they were rock hard! Weird! I wonder how many people like stale candy of different varieties? Maybe I should run a poll, that would be so wacked out it might start a hysterical GLP DOOM FRENZY. Experts said it was the strongest flare seen in the past 30 years. The explosion caused a coronal mass ejection (CME) which is now speeding towards Earth. Read more: [link to www.dailymail.co.uk] The solar flare was classified as an X18-category explosion, meaning it can trigger planet-wide radio blackouts and long-lasting radiation storms. The anisotropy is the ratio of the perpendicular and parallel temperatures to the magnetic field lines. The number of measured values is shown in colour (red corresponds to many values, blue to few values). Why the measurements take on the characteristic rhombic shape is explained by a new model by Bochum’s physicists.... ReadMore: [link to www.physorg.com] |

Hugh M Eye User ID: 5448852 United States 11/15/2011 04:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Very interesting H-alpha movie from Learmouth Observatory--I was looking to see what happened to that giant prominence over the southeast limb. It appears that the magnetic field holding it up finally collapsed-some material seems to fly into space and the rest falls back to the surface. Check out the wild activity at the equator on the eastern limb-wow, this region will be Earth-facing soon. If you slow down the movie you can see the M-flare spark up from 1348 on the western limb in the last frames. Lots going on here...a small filament is flopping around near mid-disk. Hugh M Eye User ID: 5448852 United States 11/15/2011 04:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I wonder how long that the remainder of the giant filament will hang on. The fat part seems to be looking right at Earth. Will it keep coming apart in chunks, or with a giant mega-blast, or will it remain relatively stable? [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] If we look at the field lines it appears like an enormous tunnel of magnetic ropes is holding it down. Any sudden flip or re-connection of magnetic fields could have a huge effect. Keep in mind the sun's equator rotates faster than the poles-this can cause the magnetic fields to stretch and snap into new configurations. [link to stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov] |
