That is too funny. I like malted milk balls that way, when they are stale, half hollow, and gooey! I once knew someone that liked Easter Peeps, but only after leaving them out untill they were so stale that they were rock hard! Weird! I wonder how many people like stale candy of different varieties? Maybe I should run a poll, that would be so wacked out it might start a hysterical GLP DOOM FRENZY.

It works fast when the flare is fast! If there is an LDE forget it. You all got my game down pat. I used to be the only one that knew to run look at EVE when people were still looking at Stereo EUVI 195 for the flash! Some ran to Solarsoft, depended on which was faster, and only a couple even knew that Lockheed Martin ran a flare finder. I revealed my source for SDO EVE SAM posting pics to prove flare originations and posted the pics after converting them to smilies(still have a couple)and that was that..;) A couple of threads before this NIN and I started working together to simply get the information out as quickly and easily as possible.

I had a pinned thread in Feb. for the first really big solar event of this cycle; three CMEs back to back and NIN and I have been working together since. Thread: NOAA WARNING...THREE CMEs TO ARRIVE...POSSIBLE G3 STORM!.***UPDATE***...STORM IN PROGRESS! (Page 28)

We moved a lot of information from a thread NiN created just prior tothe one you are on over here...
Thread: SOLAR DOOM! NOAA ACE OFFLINE! NASA SHUTTING DOWN SOLAR DATA (Page 10) and we landed with this permanent one. NIN was the creative one with designing the front page and I supplied a lot of the images and gifs.

Now.. we have you guys that come along with us and research, develop, design, bring wonderful presentations, and make it yours.

I wonder how long that the remainder of the giant filament will hang on. The fat part seems to be looking right at Earth. Will it keep coming apart in chunks, or with a giant mega-blast, or will it remain relatively stable?

If we look at the field lines it appears like an enormous tunnel of magnetic ropes is holding it down. Any sudden flip or re-connection of magnetic fields could have a huge effect. Keep in mind the sun's equator rotates faster than the poles-this can cause the magnetic fields to stretch and snap into new configurations.

SIDC summary and 3-day forecast says CME was directed south of ecliptic but may possibly deliver glancing blow to Earth on Nov. 18.
