That event covered an awfully large area and that filament seemed to explode. Maybe a solar tsunami, too. A smaller filament has come off in the east at the same time. I hope the magnetosphere gets some rest this week, lol.

SDO composite close-up movie of M-flare. Very pretty colors but they cut it off before the climax, uh, I mean peak. I hate when that happens.

A Suggestion For All: Compare The Pre-Flare
JSOC HMI(Color)/Doppler's (Overlay Both Together
In Win7 Image Viewer Using The Preview Thumbnails
At The Bottom, On/At The Menu Area) With The Same
Post-Peak Stills. A Reduction In High Gradient
Doppler Velocity's, Yes (Area's Where Jet-Black
Spots Are IMMEDIATELY Adjacent To Bone-White Area's)
BUT After A Flare Of This Intensity/Duration (LDE)
All Such Area's Should Have Been "Homogenized" Nearly
Completely...This One Isn't Finished With US Yet.

Nice video, NIN. This current geomagnetic storm is entering its 25th hour now. I noticed there are like 6 NOAA alerts effective now. Solar Max is gonna be rough on all of the spacecraft if this keeps up, LOL.

did the same drop off like that back in sept 2011 when we had that string of Ms
at 1st we thought it was broken
nope, not beoken
were getting a really hard hit right now with these protons
it causes the electrons to drop hard
the proton flux is STILL climbing
