This electron flux plot contains the 5-minute averaged integral electron flux (electrons/cm2-s-sr) with energies greater than or equal to 0.8 MeV and greater than or equal to 2 MeV at GOES-13 (W75). These data are invalid during a significant proton event because of sensor contamination at the GOES spacecraft. Enhanced fluxes of electrons for an extended period of time have been associated with deep dielectric charging anomalies.

An Open Question To The Forum:

If A CME Was Active And A Large Magnitude Flare
Occurred Simultaneously (Say X-Grade) What Would
Be The Net Observable Effect. Would A Shock Wave
In The Mass Constituting The Body Of The CME Be
Evident? Would Any Net Full Mass Effect Be Observed,
Such As An Acceleration Of Same Resulting In Increased
Overall Velocity? I Haven't Ever Thought Of The Case
Of The Two Events Simultaneously Occuring In A Geo-
Effective Context - CME Followed By A Large Magnitude
Flare. Has This Ever Happened (In Recent Years) To
Anyone's Knowledge?

im watching this super close
as one of the math equasions came up with the CME arrival of 22:00 today
it is right now 22:30

reguardless of the exact time
we should be on the high watch for tis CME's arrival from right now, until 8am EST tomorrow morning
(that is 12:00 UTC)

I'm pretty impressed how long these protons have stayed up. I must say the next few days will be interesting. These NOAA/NASA solar meteorologist seem to be less accurate than weather meteorologists...

Does the length of time that the proton levels stay elevated correlate with how long the geomagnetic storm will last?

Kinda/sorta. Just says there is a ton of energy associated w/this CME. A direct hit would have cooked some eggs, thats for sure.

no direct correlation that i know of
we can only guess at how long the geomagnetic storm from a CME will last
we base it on the direction it was ejected, how much material was ejected, how fast it was etc.

could be also from the latest coronal hole (CH495) was in earth facing position on jan20

Spaceweather has upped M class from 30% to 60% and X from 1% to 10%

watch the AU/AE graphs that are under the main simulations
the AU/AE will show the CME arrival before the top images do

what this tells me is that the proton storm has knocked out the solar wind density and velocity metrics.. i was just gonna post something to that effect but this confirms and makes unnecessary...

still. based on that ACE HAARP composite i did, its the hard Bz flips that really rings out bell, that plus high density... lol, but we know we got that, right: freaking knocked the sensors offline...

so we look for hard Bz shifts? and watch HAARP?

also might be a good time to clock transits.
given that Bz shift happened just under 2 hours ago and Haarp shoes all calm right now...

first blip on HAARP gives us a phase offset calibration?
