I went looking back to see what triggered those October aurora in Alabama. There was no advance magnetic storm warnings and the CME was thought too far north to be geo-effective. CME was caused by a filament eruption on the northwest limb and we were told possibly a "glancing blow". The K-index rose to 6=Storm level and red auroras were seen very far south. Though largely un-anticipated, it was more geo-effective than the last two halo-CME storms which were directed straight at Earth.

Hey Hugh, do you have bat crazy wind over there in Jersey? The wind on my side of the river is insanely wild. Goes from calm to out of control in moments! It's also 55 degrees. Crazy stuff.

Hi, Oracle. I must admit I haven't been following Earth weather as close as solar weather, lol. Yes, I was outside a bit ago as the sun broke through the gray-black stratus clouds and it was getting gusty. Methinks this normal wind behind a low pressure zone. What interested me was the geese were all flying North. An early Spring, perhaps.

Significant earthquake precursor signal detected on 01/27/12 at 2047utc/1547est. Possible 6+.

Radio Direction Finder has signal coming in East of France from somewhere out in the Northern, Mid to Southern portions of the Pacific plate to Alaska, Canada and Chile.


All who live anywhere in the vicinity of this line trajectory should be wary next 5 hours. Have escape plan ready and seek open terrain in the event of felt tremor. Secure most of your heavy objects and belongings around your home.

Back up to 16 hours and 27 minutes for recovery. It was down to nothing before the x-class.

Having MS, I use a cane sometimes too. When I get down, I remind myself I could be in a wheelchair instead. I sure hope you continue to heal! I'll keep an eye out for that Harry potter cane. Keep in mind that you can easily find some really cool ones, like a black one with orange and yellow flames (might remind you of the fire in a solar flare). Also if you like it feminine you can find a pink one with leapord spots...lol.

This is an historical animation of the proton absorption from a major event list. The highest is an X-28 flare from November 4, 2003. Probably an extention of the Holloween storm that our storm from the long duration flare this week was supposed to rival. This is nothing compared to what we experienced this past week:

I notice at same time of the X-flare there was another eruption on the NE limb. I wonder if this was coincidence or is there an interconnectedness (either magnetic or shockwave induced). It would be an amazing event if it were felt on the opposite side of the disk.
