Another large filament has erupted, this time in the NE quadrant. A chunk of it lifted off north and has produced a CME. What's really strange is the southernmost piece seems to have moved many thousands of kilometers towards disk-center. This eruption may still be in progress.

So far as I can tell none of these CMEs are Earth-directed, but this may change if the center-disk filament flies off of the Sun. Stay tuned....

Forgive me for quoting my own post from the 23rd, but I've finally found a movie which zooms in on that slithering snake-like filament described above. This is immediately prior to the big eruption & tsunami which sent the CME our way. I'm still amazed at the rapid movement, 90 degree turns, and the long distances covered.
