El Quisqueyano User ID: 11498050 United States 03/01/2012 11:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Significant earthquake precursor signal detected on 03/01/12 at 1540utc/1040est. Possible 6+. Radio Direction Finder has signal coming in East of France from somewhere out in the Northern, Mid to Southern portions of the Pacific plate to Alaska, Canada and Chile. All who live anywhere in the vicinity of this line trajectory should be wary next 5 hours. Have escape plan ready and seek open terrain in the event of felt tremor. Secure most of your heavy objects and belongings around your home. Namaste, Hopefully I am wrong. Or it hits an unpopulated area. Japan is also a likely target. Be wary. |

Hugh M Eye User ID: 11728316 United States 03/01/2012 12:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | mhh SIDC Belgium now: Quoting: IwantToBelieve76 Flaring activity is low.A long duration B-flare occurred peaking at 10:10UT. There was a plasma eruption visible in SDO/AIA 193A. The plasma ejection was not visible in STEREO A or B. A partial halo CME alert was sent by the CACTus software today concerning an eruption on 29/2 visible in SOHO/LASCO C2 at 09:36UT. An EUV wave and Coronal Dimming was seen in STEREO A/EUVI 195A. The CME was back-sided, seen from the Earth. There will be no influence on Earth. A small coronal hole in visible in the southern hemisphere. Last rotation, it didn't produce any geomagnetic disturbances. We don't expect any influence. [link to www.sidc.be] cut the message in two, cause this are two different events Have to work a bit cya later Take care, IWTB! I couldn't help but notice SIDC's omission of the large CME we all saw late yesterday from the northern hemisphere. Judging by the STEREO A+B data, I wouldn't rule out an element of geo-effectiveness. This was a very s-l-o-w CME, but I can see a stream of Earth-directed plasma towards the end. I'm just putting this out there in case we see a geo-magnetic disturbance in a few days. They use a massive computer to decipher ACE data and the computer simulates what the magnetic field and lines are doing. |

The lines are imaginary, but its a nifty and sophisticated computer model. I think it helps a great deal to visualize stuff than to pour over boring lists of data and confusing graphs. The Japanese super-computer generates the simulation from real-time solar wind and IMF data from ACE (which is approx. 1 million miles in the sun's direction). Someone please correct me if there's other data being fed into it (such as Cluster. THEMIS, etc.). The GOES satellites monitor near-earth conditions from geosynchronus orbit (usually from inside the magnetosphere). [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] |
