H-alpha movie loop of M-flare from Udaipur Observatory: Slow it down for better view- [ link to halpha.nso.edu] Now to wait and see if have another CME bullseye. Quoting: Hugh M Eye That is fantastic. I love these GONG H Alpha images. What I wouldn't give to own that telescope. The slideshow images always remind me of an early embryonic development. Side bets on a CME or not? I say yes! Quoting: tomasgod1 I love the idea behind the GONG network. Usually, they update once-a-minute not every 7-9 hours like SOHO, haha. Some of first astronomical experience as a child was looking at the sun through a large telescope. On those school trips to the science museum (Franklin Institute in Philly); there were no stars or planets in the daytime so they always had us look at sunspots. GONG reminds me of those. Here's a link for everyone to bookmark their main page: [ link to halpha.nso.edu] Oh, and besides being fast, it's the best place to keep track of filaments. I can't wager with you as I, too, feel a CME is probable w/ a flare of this size. May be a small one or may be a big one.
