Sifting back through the SOHO Celias data I found the highest recorded solar wind during this storm to be... 988.80 km/s at 08:56:03 UT for 12-09 -2012 :celiaswindmar9: [ link to umtof.umd.edu] Amazing! Does anyone know what the highest SW speed record is? I'm looking around for a possible answer and came accross this .... now take for granted I hardly ever work with the metric system, and this just blew me away: "The solar wind streams off of the Sun in all directions at speeds of about 400 km/s (about 1 million miles per hour).0" [ link to solarscience.msfc.nasa.gov] I had no clue !! So these winds were very close to 2.5 MILLION MPH ???
