Good morning everyone Has anyone come up with a good theory, educated guess on the absorption maps yet ??? If our poles are our weakest points, why would the electron concentration be closer to the equator during a " non-solar event", and not necessarily dictated on whether sol facing or not ??? When looking at the the absorption maps during quiet periods in the past, there is a slight variation of increased absorption in sol facing areas, but never this significant unless we are in the midst of a strong geomagnetic storm. Current absorption maps: [ link to sw22.spaceweather.usu.edu] [ link to www.gdgps.net] The one I typically use has been down for a long time now.
