The SOHO and STEREO optics were designed for solar observation, not background stars , planets, or galaxies. The raw images we see on a daily basis are "un-processed" lo-res images intended for solar events only. Keep in mind that a week from now the hi-res processed images for today can be seen online. If you see something interesting in the background, do us all a favor and search the Celestia or Solarium models and eliminate any stars, nebulae, or planets which are well-documented before proposing some far-fetched "UFO's sucking-off the Sun theory"....jes' saYIN'.
