So earth facing? Didn't look it to me...

is anyone else seeing the xray flux not updating each 1 min?
its stuck on M4.6 for many minutes
and its not cause its leveled out or dropping

look at that, half the stuff is off line also

appears to be from 1476 on the western limb

I actually really do think it killed GOES 15....

I have all these solar flowers in my window .. and I was sitting quiet hearing click.click.click fast. . I got upnand it was the flowers.. never saw that before. . Silly flowers but odd .. I was gonna post a thread flar possibly but um .. setting myself up there .. was only a 15% chance when I checked of m and 0 of x ..

Is this the large spot .. still earth facing?

I don't know much about this stuff, but I thought the X-Ray flux was read from Earth. Do the flares not need to be Earth-facing for us to pick up the X-ray?

1476 is where this flare was from
yes, if the Xrays from a flare are picked up, it IS earth directed
this flare was earth directed cause it is being registered
i think GOES borke from this, and from 1st sight, the images of the flare got much bigger and brighter after it was initaly at the M4.5 flare range
hard to tell for sure without data, but from looking at images, it would apprar this did hit the X flare range

people, help me get images and please SAVE them so we have them after this event is over
we may need them

1476 per the above link is still earth facing and just past the dangerous 60 degree area, closer to 90 degree now.

So it looks like this flare was big enough to fry GOES

That flux was going way up there. Why do you think they pulled the switch on GOES? Did it damage it or are they expecting an intense X?
