4.3 quake in East Texas. Second one in a little over a week. I was born and raised in the area and we never had quakes until just recently.
Just spoke to my sister who lives close to Shreveport and she said that the quake is making the local news big time. Reports are coming in of cracked ceilings, broken windows and things shaken from the shelves. The local authorities are going to check the bridges for damage.

RADIATION STORM UNDERWAY: Energetic solar protons are swirling around Earth following an M5-class solar flare from departing sunspot 1476. The sunspot erupted on May 17th around 0130 UT. This radiation storm ranks S2 on NOAA storm scales, which means it is a moderate event capable of confusing spacecraft imaging systems and causing 'single event upsets' in orbiting electronics.

I actually fell asleep at my CPU during this event..The Electron Flux [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] <This is whilst the M(X)Flare happened..I hope that was because it was switched off and not again due to yet another 'Boundary Crossing'!?

If it was due to a SBC then Quadropole may be within the Week!

Wow, that CME looked huge, glad it's not going to be a full-on hit.

Does anyone know if the flux is working and correct....I noticed something peculiar while just watching......

I just noticed the ratio climbing from 0.27 up to 0.42 and it matched up to the graph, but when it hit 0.39 it started to drop on the graph even though the ratio still climbed to 0.42.....

Is it possible for the graph to start dropping off rapidly even though the ratio still climbed that??

It just didn't seem in sync with each at all....

Probably just me, don't know much about the flux but have followed it a bit and never seen it do that.

Hiya Tom.

On a serious note. I do not believe in coincidences. This makes the unnumerable calculation of a large sunspot region that waited to release a large CME at the exact same position off of the western limb, just after rotating out of a direct trajectory with Earth. We all watched and waited for Region 1476 to release an X flare, and or a beheometh CME in our direction as it rotated on by. The region continued to release a steady stream of C class flares with occasional M flares keeping it at a controlled state untill it rotated onto the the western limb and then it released a large flare that would be read by GOES as an Xflare if it was in an Earth facing position. The CME that can be seen from STEREO satellites is enormous, and would have caused a considerable geomagnetic storm had it been directly Earthbound.

Proton flux continues to drop. The Solar Radiation Storm has fallen from S2 to S1. Any further flaring could quickly increase the level of the the proton storm.

I agree. Once again we were saved!!

Its becoming very apparent 'something' is suppressing energy release, for some reason i feel this will all be rvealed in due time

The Sun flips poles every solar cycle, approximatley 11 years. During this polar shift it is not unusual to see a quadrapole with our Sun, prior to the final polar shift. During the polar "flip" a quadrapole will show up as two north and two south. We have seen and experienced this in our life times, and hopefully this will not be the last! haha!

Spare another event they are now dropping slowly.

I am very much of the mind that this exceeded M5.1 but due to it being on the limb its' full energies were not correctly picked-up,or they be tellin' a porky.

Yes, I would have to agree as well. There are no coincidences. Actually, it really is amazing when you put it into words as written above. We all anticipated an X from 76 and finally got the show we were waiting for when in a safe position to do so!
